HU Spring 10K challenge

Following my HM on Wednesday, I was rather surprised to run all the way on this. I had expected to do run/walk, or at least have some walk breaks, but after a slowish start I felt quite good and just kept running! A strong wind after I turned round to come home slowed me down for a couple of KM, but I just kept plodding.....thinking of you lot all running with me! I even managed to speed up a bit for the last KM.

1 hour 28, I'm happy with that.

Hi CG. That’s doubly impressive that you did right after the other run. Very well done.

Well done, especially so soon. TBH I think it is more mind over matter. I went for 10 the other day and failed because it was like I gad done a HM so what more was there? I had to do a bit of a mind reset. So well done for stepping up to the mark.

I just kept thinking - the other day I still had 12 k, 15 K, 10 K or whatever left to run...also I tell myself I've just started and feel fresh - sometimes it works sometimes not!

I usually find that I've had enough when I reach my target distance. Reckon it's down to either a/ an exact balance of training, nutrition, pace and effort or b/ a psychological effect. Whilst it would be nice to think that it's a/, I reckon that, in my case, it's mostly b/.

I know what you mean, it's like you psych yourself up for a particular distance...

Nice one, especially with the headwind on the way back and your HM in the week. Sounds like you set your pace just right at the start!
