I wasnโt sure whether to post this on the Bridge or the Race Support forum, so apologies for putting it on both!
The original plan for this event was that I would run the 10k with my sister - and we were then joined by my husband.ย
We drove down to spend the evening with my sister who lives nearby and of course we couldnโt resist a spot of Eurovision before a good nights sleep.
Sadly, disaster struck for my sister when she did something to her back getting out of bed this morning and it left her struggling to walk,๐ฉ let alone contemplate a 10k run around the streets of Bristol! I was truly gutted for her as she has been building her running back up recently and was so ready for this race. She was hoping for a good time too ( much faster runner than me!)
So in the end it was just the two of us who set off. We used the Park and Ride which ran very smoothly and dropped us off right by the event village. Toilets and bag drop sorted we then headed off to the Green wave.ย I ran this event a few years back and the course has changed a little. Asย cheekychipmunksย said, Bristol has a few little bumps along the way, which were mostly okay, although there was a hill just after 7k that I could have done without (dig deep Sandraโฆyouโve got this!) Also, Bristol has a lot of cobbled streets!!Support on the course was great and despite flagging a little, that glorious finish line soon came into view!
ย I finished in 1:08:35 which was pretty much what I had expected, although I would have liked to have been a little closer to 1:05, if Iโm honest!
Great day out and now revived after my magnesium bath!๐

Sorry that your sister couldn't run Sandra, that course sounds quite tricky...That is a brilliant time and you got a lovely medal. Huge Well done!๐โโ๏ธ๐xxx
Well done Sandraj39 , that sounds like a great race for you, but such a shame that your sister couldnโt join in. I hope her back is better soon. I have also done the previous route and hope they bring it back next year as I loved running up the gorge . Also, I see enough cobblestones on the great south run!
Well done on your time Sandra and taking those cobbles and hills in your stride. It sounds like the support was great too. I hope your sister recovers quickly.
I need to reply to this post too Sandra as Iโm still so disappointed for your sister. ๐ฅบ I hope sheโs feeling better today. Well done again on your great run! ๐
well done ๐ I donโt fancy running on cobbles, although come to think about it, I have run along part of a cobbled beach before!! Hope your sister improves quickly- how disappointing.
