Up early, caught the train and headed to the pier. The road around the seafront started to fill with runners and supporters.

The weather was kind to us, it was a bit chilly, but no rain, no wind, just a calm cloudy day - perfect for running!

We removed our layers, ready to drop our bags off, then kept warm jogging down to the start line.

At 9.30 we were off, about 2000 runners headed west towards the pier, and down the road to Hove, where we turned down to the seafront, and headed east, back past the pier and start line, towards the Marina. At Black rock we turned back west towards the finish. I couldn’t see the finish banner, so kept at a steady pace, watching out for other club runners to cheer them on. Suddenly I saw the finish, and sped up, overtaking several, including a friend from club.

The gun time clock was showing 1 hour 2 minutes, I felt strong, kept a great pace, and knew I had done a little better time wise as we had timing chips. Just had to wait for the chip results

Chip result - 1 hour and 33 seconds!!

I had knocked over 7 minutes off my previous 10k time, I was really pleased, it was a really good run, all my training had paid off, and the time I had off with cold hadn’t affected it.

It was a lovely event, and definitely one to do again. It was also nice to try out some of the roads ahead of the Brighton 1/2 in Feb.

Well done. I did this myself last year in similar conditions - though it was a sunny day. Got a PB too, which I have yet to improve on. I'll also be doing the Brighton HM in feb and am very much looking forward to it.

What a brilliant run. I used to live on the seafront in Hove; such a shame I didn’t run then. Well done on a great time. Where’s the bling picture?

Photo added - not the best medal, but considering the race was cancelled and then reorganised, they were limited with time. However it’s a medal and it has been added to the collection of other medals. 🏅

That’s better. We do love a bit of bling or an after run picture. I’m still wondering how to display all my medals
