Sunday 2nd October I did my first Marathon at Chester and I did it in a time of 4:04:15 my training definitely paid off and I did it on my own like I always do which I prefer I got up to 18-21 no trouble then the last 5 miles was hilly and tough and I was in a world of hurt but I did it nonstop and I just mentally dug in and crossed the finish line. I am so proud of myself with what I’ve achieved even with a niggle I managed to do it and my fuelling was spot on as so was my pacing average pace was 9:15 minute pacing. Because I did the triple Chester 10K, Chester Half marathon and the full marathon I got another special medal and it’s very nice bling is what it is.

That's an amazing time. If I were to project my current HM and MM times out, I'd be realistically looking at 5 hours.

Well done! 🏅

That's great Kevtrev, well done! I had a great run at Chester, but my time was nowhere near yours. I finished 4:49, which I was thrilled with. That last hill was a killer! Loved getting a long sleeve top at the end though, perfect for winter

great job! Well done and congratulations 👏 😀💪🏅🎉 Awesome time too 💥

Yes, when the going gets tough you just have to dig deep, keep it simple, literally one foot in front of the other 🙂

Hills at the end of a marathon are cruel! Well done for coping with them ✊

thank you so much that means a lot so kind I have learned a lot from the marathon and I know we’re I can improve for next year. I am physically and mentally strong the last 5 miles was purely mental attitude as it was a hilly undulating last 5 miles but thank you again 😊😁😁😉👍🏼

I have only run 2 3/4 marathons and will run full one next year. I had same last 5 miles of them and struggled, so I think it's best that I'm upping gradually.

thank you very much. How are you keeping these days been a long time since I’ve been on here as I’ve been so busy with my training and everything else going on.

AlMorr profile image

Yes it's a while since you were on C25K or this marathon forum, perhaps a few years.

Since then I have ran 60 parkruns, 121 (not) parkruns, 31/10Ks and 5 ten mile runs, no half marathons or full marathons, I don't run all that often, only on a Saturday and a longer run on a Wednesday morning, nevertheless I still enjoy my runs on those two days. 😊 🏃🏾

KevtrevMarathon in reply to AlMorr

glad to hear you are still enjoying your running and your keeping it up.

The marathon was 4 months of training but missed 3 weeks due to illness and holidays but I’ve been averaging 65-75 miles a week so far this year I’ve ran 1,926.8 miles I’m racing Saturday as cross country starts and Sunday I’m in a 10K race then in November I’m in Conwy half marathon my favourite December I have 2 festive races and 2 fell runs it’s been race race race. I generally run 6-7 days a week with 4 of them days double day running but I have improved my 5K PB is 23:18 10K 45:47 Half 1:48:57 Marathon 4:04:15. 10 miles 1:21:57

PS, just fancy that, just as I finished that last post to you my favourite running song came on the radio "Keep on Running" by The Spencer Davis Group, lol.

Kevtrev profile image
KevtrevMarathon in reply to AlMorr

thank you 😁😁 I did well considering XC I did it in 51:19 and the next day Knutsford 10K 48:43 a course PB but not a 10K PB which still stands at 45:47 but it’s expected after doing a marathon it takes between 6-8 weeks and a bit more depending each person taking in age as well older you are the longer the recovery is.

Aww thank you so so much yes I know what you mean after the marathon my legs hated me 😂 especially going up the stairs to the bar 😂 my coach has said as soon as this week is over try building it back up so think I will do a run in the morning and one at club and slowly does it. Wednesday was my first run and then Thursday Friday off Saturday park run but today I’ve not done my long run instead a rest as this year so far I’ve done 1,926.8 miles plus I’m in a race next Sunday and then cross country Starts Saturday so I’m looking forward to it.
