10km Cake Run (First race for me) and I loved it!!!

well, what a hot night night to run,but what an experience! I was excited and nervous at the same time. I went to the loo 3 times for a pee is that normal?? 🤣

it would be an extremely hot night wouldn't it , not much breeze and a couple of cruel hills just for extra! Maybe the nerves helped though as even in the heat , I got into my stride with someone from our running club and it was a fairly fast pace, and wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep it up,but I did and apart from the last 500 metres I felt really good☺️🏃‍♀️. Made the mistake of taking a bottle of water at the half point point rather than just a cup,as then I had to carry it,but did actually tip some down my neck to empty it a bit.

First time, first race so hadn't used the chip timing thing before,so I did keep looking at my shoe to ensure it hadn't fallen off as I'd have been gutted if my time wasn't recorded!!🤣

Anyway, finishing time,....,..... 55.35!!! For me that's quick and in the heat too. Was so chuffed when I saw I'd got a sub 60mins, felt a real runner when I got my medal😎🏅.

oh and the cake! I had never seen so many cakes , and such big portions,we all sat on the grass afterwards stuffing our faces! !Sorry for the long rambling , you can tell I'm still excited!🤣!🤣

Aww thank you. I did Parkrun yesterday, to say my legs were a bit tired is a massive under statement, but 4 of us girls did it, and we agreed to just have a steady one!! And..... I've booked my next race, another 10km in Oct!! 😃😃. What a lovely surprise though when I looked in here and had so many people cheering me on, was absolutely blown away, yet again, what a great supportive forum!!

Wow, double wow and treble wow! What a amazing start to your racing journey! Definitely not a long post! Amazing time! All your dancing years presumably have kept you not only very fit for your age but incredibly speedy too. So lovely that you enjoyed it so much. How long have you been in a running club?

Thank you, I've always kept fit and did run many years ago but not to this extent. I only started at lockdown and did the C25K and the registered for ParkRun last year and that was it, totally hooked! I run twice a week with a local community running club and on one of the days I make myself run with the fast 10km group as it's a good challenge for me. Only joined them about 6 months ago but they're a really lovely supportive group and its obviously helping me. ☺️🏃‍♀️

What a brilliant run report Hedgehogs, and yes I confirm the wee thing is normal . In fact I can go to the loo at home before setting off for parkrun, and still pop into the loos en route 10 mins later.

That was really speedy and you definitely deserved cake (or cakes). Well done.

Thank you. I've signed up to another 10km race and I'm thinking of whether to push myself to do a HM, there's one in my area in April so plenty of time to train for it, but I wonder how many trips to the loo, I'd do then!!! 🤣🤣
