Hi Lucyintheskywith , although I've not run more than 16k for a while, my runs over the past month or so have been in sun and heat up to 31°C.

I just use whatever suncream's currently working for my reactive, atopic skin, usually factor 30-50. Still have a tan line from my running shorts though!

It's a very personal choice and what others love you might hate. I find Mixa is usually good, but I don't think you can get that in the UK.

If you're going to be out for a long time I suggest you take suncream with you to reapply - get a mini tube or decant some into a small pot.

The main thing that bothers me is whether its going to run into my eyes when I sweat. I now have a waterproof sports one which seems to have worked well so far although it hasn't had a full on hot test!

We have a nice Neutrogena stick at 50 SPF, which is good for the nose, cheeks and especially the tops of your ears that my doctor tells me most people forget to do. Especially men. So that stuck with me

I got a seriously burnt fizog during an April trail 10k 🙄. Round my eyes was worst 😫. It was the wind and sun that combined to burn me. Horrible! I’ve been careful since The other day though I put my cap on and noticed it pulls my hair away from my ears, leaving them exposed. I ditched the hat and settled on sunglasses, which left my hair to flop over my ears.

I’ve got Body Shop extreme face protection cream and a tin of Piz Buin skier’s cream for around my eyes. Wearing a buff or headband helps keep sweat away from the eyes. It stings horribly 😬

A buff, cap or visor, and/ or sun specs, but it might take some experimenting to settle on your favoured combo 😀👍

At the moment, getting out earlier, and wearing a cap is all I'm doing. I do have some "for children" SPF 30 in the car.

Bear in mind that any SPF number over 30 is pretty much meaningless.

Not what you're looking for?
