….nobody??. 🫢 Is this possible; another racer-free weekend?? With Storm Eowyn barrelling in through Ireland and into Scotland on Friday, perhaps our racers are showing remarkable prescience. A Red Warning; danger to life, is not to be ignored! There are plenty of amber and yellow warnings about too, with the risk of further bad weather appearing over the weekend in the wake of the storms. All in all, maybe a good time to swot up on training plans for our Spring HU event, or even try some fitness exercises in comfort. I made a start on the latter tonight..got to keep these old joints moving!
If you live in a quieter corner of the country, and decide to look for a race this weekend, just respond to this post and we will stir up a wave of support from our amazing Pom Pom Shakers. Otherwise, you could look for some races in February and send details through the linked post below.
Edit; we have a runner! Runnin-g is planning to run on Sunday in the Longleat 10k (if safe) so huge Pom Pom waves required. Do they still have lions there? 🏃🏻♀️🦁
Hi Dexy5. This will all be in AlMorr ‘s back yard; he will be sensible. My trails with goretex patches have been very welcome this week! Definitely a claggy period.
Yes I will be sensible BC66, I have just listened to the 05:20 Shipping Forecast on BBC Radio 4, gale warnings for all sea areas, 75 mph gusts in my area in the afternoon, winds dying down later, not sure if parkruns will be on on Saturday because if trees have fallen on the course on Friday afternoon there won't be time to clear the course for Saturday morning.
Thanks, I’m booked in for the Longleat 10k on Sunday. Although, looking at the weather forecast, I have a suspicion it may be cancelled, time will tell. Stay safe everyone whatever you’re doing 😊
Event edited in Runnin-g. Let’s hope things have settled down by then. Weather stopping events is becoming a bit of a habit. I hope it turns out to be a good day for you.🙂
🙂 She is a bit less hairy this morning following a clip yesterday afternoon. She has just barked to tell me that the refuse bin had blown over…very handy as well as cute!
Molly is an especially cute giant pom pom, is she a good running companion? Actually I'm not sure that matters, what a lovely dog! I've barely run this week. I bashed my right foot while having a play on the newly installed monkey bars in my local park.
I was hoping to get out today but Eowyn seems to want me to stay indoors. Looks like I'll be doing squats, calf raises and press ups and stretching at intervals throughout the day again. I started doing this in the new year and feel stronger and more supple already. Maybe I will even be able to do a single pull up on those accursed monkey bars one day.
A bit often with the exercises works for me. I do the strengthening each leg individually stuff, some core work and yoga style stretches. Almost anything rather than nothing makes a difference makes a difference to me.
Oh, Molly and I don’t run together. She is 12and 1/2 years old now, but 36k pulling in the wrong direction whilst I am running feels like a recipe for disaster. She did do some of the early C25k run/walks on the beach “off lead” with me, but since then the deal has always been; I go for my runs and Molly has free rein on her daily walks( which always lead to our walkway cafe which supplies sausages!!🙂). Everybody happy….
I don’t think that we will be walking today IP; it is horrible out there. Molly will happily potter about, protecting her new hairdo from the elements! Mrs BC and I have a rather more solemn event this morning; we will have to brave the elements 😬
No racers? Let's hope there's lots of parkruns on then. It was very windy earlier but the clouds soon cleared and the sun shone most the day .Molly looks beautiful 😁
