...what did you do with your bonus hour, those of you forum folk who are subject to the end of Daylight Saving? Maybe you got out there into the crisp air and did something lovely and active! Or maybe you smiled, did a cat stretch and stayed in bed for another hour, like me... π I know we certainly had some epic running events this weekend, so that extra hour of sleep might have been exactly what you needed!
If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
ATTENTION ALL! Do you have any events this weekend that you'd like to be added to the pompom post? If so, please let us know below! π π π
Happy running!

Enjoying C25k repeat with GIF6,12x30 sec bursts bolted on separately on the three runs per week.
Juggling quite nicely also my 200m & 400m for the Nov Speed Challenge.
I have been thinking about a very simple motivational empirical rule for myself over shorter distances.I know there is well established age related excellent information available.Since reading Pete Magillβs myth busting stuff,I am trying to work with a rule that embodies that.
It is simply I am trying to be half as good as the elites, all comers, ignoring age.
As I progress through my 4x3 month phases , (starting wk7 C25k), to an intended once in a lifetime marathon, I know
it will not translate and a new ratio/empirical rule will emerge.
With a less than two hour Marathon achieved by the great man EK., I will be well pleased if I could achieve 6-7 hours from this far out.
Hey Ho dreams are harmless and do not cost anything either.
I smiled a LOT yesterday. I felt like I had the most perfect extra hour - beautiful blue sky, outdoorsy day for it. I ran my first 5k in over 5 months and then cycled 65k - ended up well and truly worn out, in the nicest possible way. Got to make the most of days like that at this time of year
Off for my second sports massage in a minute, but the last one, together with the foot rehab routine I'm doing religiously every morning, seem to have completed the mending process. It's great to walk about and feel as if both legs/feet are the same π. And there I go, smiling again .... π
I definitely made the most of that extra hour post Beachy Sqkr π
Because I am a glutton for punishment I'm doing the wonderfully undulating Beckley 10k this Sunday and pianojunior is making his 2 mile debut in the Fun Run
I got up earlier so that I could watch Wales play in the World Cup semis. Very tense and not the result we wanted.....
So this week Iβve started roseabiβs speed challenge for 1k. Iβm not sure how much Iβll be able knock off todays time , but we shall see. Iβm aiming to do local parkrun on Saturday after all our galavanting. Unless we have gales on the coast, and Iβll move inland!
My extra hour meant I didn't have to rush walking the dog before a lovely 10k run in the mud with fellow crazies from my off rd run group. Lovely cold sunny day here on the island, about 15 if us sliding around the woods was a perfect Sunday pick me up! Then home tp track 3 friend doing the Frankfurt marathon; all of them came in under 4 and a quarter hours! Was fun tracking their progress!π
Can't remember if I listed my race for this Saturday evening :
I got a bit more sleep before work Sunday, although still woke too early confused about what time it "really" was π€£
Trying to get my feet better, with yet another pair of safety shoes finally seeing some improvement, massage last Weds confirmed my poor feet are really bad, it's affecting the fascia now and heading up the calves so it could become a major issue if it doesn't resolve soon π using KT every day, rolling, massaging, praying, you name it...
Tell me about it! I can't believe how bad it's been, meanwhile cost of 4, yes, 4 pairs of safety shoes... I'll try to sell them on for whatever I can get but it has been actual agony... I spent most of Saturday just bawling in pain and frustration π€£ππΌπ
Iβve just been easing back post race. Last week was some gentle slower recovery runs, then Sat I tried a broken 19k with the group and it felt good, not pushing too hard. Then yesterday out of nowhere I got a 10k PB that Iβve been aiming for since Jan. It was one of those perfect fall days, sunshine, crisp temps, and legs feeling good plus the added incentive of the speed challenge. So thank you Abi for that incentive. :).
Hoots! I celebrated the extra hour with a little 4K run. ππ I am in rehab for patella tendinitis, but am doing well so far. And my physio has urged me to keep running (but slower and shorter distances) so whatβs a gal to do but run, eh?! I did 4.5km this morning - have a 5k limit for now. Have joined a gym in order to up the strength training, as physio has given me a pretty hardcore regime of strengthening, with progressive loading for the tendons. In just two weeks alone my glutes and quads appeared to have doubled in size! π±
Physioβs are fab. After a 3-week programme from mine my knees are already pain free again! But...slowly slowly. Cannot wait to get back to distance running again; I am a sucker for punishment!
Thanks Linda. I am pleased, as she said potentially it would be 6-8 week recovery, and am only in week 3. But, she also said my recovery would not be linear, so when she ramps it up again next week I might get a return of the aching. π± But, itβs all a means to an end! The strength stuff has been enlightening as itβs made me realise how weak I was! Maybe I should share it on S&F (though I wouldnβt wish it on my worst enemy! π). In other news, very pleased to hear you are up and running again! πππ xxx
Thanks Sadie. I still don't feel able to take anything for granted, but my last two sports massages have really helped undo some of the damage of the last 5 months hobbling and at the moment everything feels good, even the knee.
Do share your exercises! We can at least fully sympathise then, even if it's too hard for us to empathise π
Every tiny bit of progress is a cause for celebration. But I know how you feel. I actually slightly distrust my body after so much injury, but hoping that will fade in time. I think we both need a good long period of feeling fit and uninjured! Glad the sports massage is helping. π Will share my torturous routine tomorrow π. xxx
Hi. I just had an extra hour in bed, plus a bit more! π Then spent the day finishing building outdoor bike shed that me and OH started Friday. Kinda exercise π.
Wotcha! Feel like I have been out forever with injures and holidays! I was sad to miss Birmingham great run...but hey ho such is life!
So to perk myself up I have Cov 10k in 2 weeks....not sure how much fitness I can regain in just under 3 weeks but I'm really excited π€ͺπ€ͺπ€ͺ it's like my first race all over again ππππππ
