Getting a bit nervy now. HM in MK tomorrow. I’m well up to 12 in a time that I’m happy with. My friend is doing her first ever marathon at the same time, now she IS nervy! Looking forward to a good run, smiley crowds and a stadium finish with some bling at the end.😊
Wish me luck🍀 🤞🏻🏃♀️

Channel those nerves! The minute you cross the start line all that nervous energy disappears and you do what you've been training for. All you have to do is remember to enjoy it. Good luck, we'll all be cheering you on and we have one of our HM badges ready and waiting for you 😍
You dont need luck you have trained for it. Just do this run as a celebration of all you have done before and deal with the run that it is on the day.I take a bag and a faff bag. So far all my races have been with a hydration pack because of covid / distance so I had a lot of pockets for STUFF... anyway eat well today and hydrate. Plan 30minutes faff time pre race. Everyone says don't set off too fast. You probably will ... for at least 100m, then although you feel amazing, just go at your pace. It might be depressing as people take over BUT I swear you will take most over later on as you just maintain your planned pace. Just enjoy taking part and same for your friend. Bet you'll have a great time. Incidentally MK was my first HM in Dec!GO GIRLS!!!
Best of luck to you both. Just relax into an easy pace right from the start. As others have said, if you take it slowly at the beginning, you'll find yourself overtaking the hares later on when they've peaked too early.
I do this often at my local parkrun. First timers there usually underestimate the amount of hill work involved.
