For some time now, maybe a couple of years, I’ve had a target of achieving a sub 2 hour HM. The closest I’ve been so far is 2 hours and 90 seconds so I’m not far off!
I remember, ages ago now, a colleague commenting that, if I maintained my 5k pace then I’d achieve my target. Whilst that was accurate, it wasn’t particularly helpful because repeating it 4 times just seemed too much. Rolling forward to today, I’ve just completed an 8 mile run at the required pace. I’m not there yet but maintaining the pace for another 5 miles seems a lot more achievable than doing my fast paced 5k repeatedly 4 times.
I’ve still 8 weeks of training so I reckon I’m in with a chance this time! Of course, there’s always a risk that the Bath HM will be postponed again but it’s getting a bit close for that.

Good luck for your sub 2 hours HM at Bath, I don't think that it will be postponed again, September and October are going to be a very busy months for event races.
I’m sure you’ll achieve your sub 2 hour goal SM. 👊 😀 Can’t wait to hear how you get on, along with what the amended route is like. Wish I could be there. 🥹
Added a 10 miler on BH Monday. It was hot and I didn’t feel like I had the energy to run whilst drinking so my pace was a bit slower. Still, it should be cooler in October so that should help.
Speedy!!! I’m sure you’ll do it SM as the atmosphere will push you through. Think of all those people calling your name! Let’s just say I won’t be waiting for you at the finish line as I’ll still be running 🏃♀️
I’ll be delighted if a) the race actually goes ahead and b) I run it and finish it at all. Haven’t run a HM since Bristol ☹️
Surely they can’t postpone it again?! I’m sure you’ll do it, you achieved so much SM. Like Cheeky, I wish we could join you too. Good luck and all the best for Bath 🤞
