I tried to post yesterday, found i was restricted and subsequently closed my account. It transpires it was a glitch due to site updates, so I've had to rejoin.
Anyway, my reason for popping in was to say I'm sorry to have been so absent, but the last 3 years have been horrendous for various reasons, so I've had to restrict my contributions to one or two online groups. But I'm still here and still running and, of course, am connected with many of you on Facebook and Strava xxx

Welcome back FlickM3, AlMorr here and have been for almost 4 years now, nice to know that you are still running and enjoying it, sorry about the recent 3 years for being as you say "horrendous" I just hope from now on things will be much better for you.
It was you, among a few others, i was thinking of in checking in. I keep up with most of my old friends from here on Strava and Facebook. If you are on either, please let me know. I've never forgotten your wonderful support when i ran Oxford Half. Linda too who turned up on the day to help and support me ๐
I am 'on' Facebook but I don't really use it all that often, my username on Facebook is :-al.morr.7 @facebook. com.For my running I use Mapmyrun, it tells me all I need to know regarding distance, time, splits, pace and calories, I also use Mapmywalk for the many longer walks I do, especially on a Sunday morning during late Autumn, Winter and early Spring, during other months, especially during the summer I use Mapmyride for my Sunday morning bike rides.
I do remember that Oxford Half you ran, I think in 2019 or 2020.
I did walk and occasionally ran a half marathon last year but didn't count it as most of it was walking but with running only for the last 3K's:-3 hours:18 minutes I might try and run one this year, a big might..
I remember you FlickM. Lovely to see a post from you, but of course I am sorry that your have had a very challenging time. Still running sounds very good. ๐๐โโ๏ธ
Hi, please send me a follow request. I had s massive cull a while back as i had over 1000 followers, but no idea who many of them were, and it was taking me all day to give kudos. I accidentally culled some people i wanted and have had to add them back in x
The trouble is i often don't know who people are when they use their real names. I used to accept everyone but ended up with over 1000 followers. It was ridiculous as it took me all day to go through my feed, so i had a massive cull. Now if i don't know who someone is i don't accept them
I've been interested in them for ages, i run in zero and low drop shoes in rotation. I don't think i can wear them though due to a very badly damaged left knee which plays up with low cushion shoes
Mechanically, cushioning shouldn't affect your knees. It should be the tendons that absorb the impact, not the joints.
Have you ever tried running barefoot (eg on a lawn)?
Two weeks ago today for my second runniversary I re-ran C25K W1R1 on the local pavements... totally barefoot. I got a tiny blister on one foot where a bit of gravel had got stuck and had ground into my skin, but that healed after three days. It didn't stop me doing my hardest parkrun ever that Saturday, either!
I've lived barefoot on and off all my life. The knee was split to the bone 50+ years ago, along with a fractured femur, both of which shortened and tightened the tendons in that leg. I now have a scoliosis too because that leg is shorter and weaker, the calf is smaller in circumferance than my right leg. My right knee is fine with our without cushioning, my left knee isn't. It swelled up like a balloon towards the end of Oxford half.
Hi Lovely, thank you. How are you going? Still running races? No way was i going to stop running after all the money i spent on leggings and shoes ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ. Besides, i love it x
Oh I know, itโs an investment in us isnโt it ๐.
Yeah Iโm still racing. Two weeks ago I did a HM but Iโd hurt my knee some weeks before. Not run since but plan heading out this Sunday in the new shoes I got today ๐ค.
I remember you too, you converted me to funky leggings and you have the lovely saluki dog! Good to see you back on here, I stop by occasionally, Iโve secured a place on the great north run this year, so upping my game at the mo! Great to see you back ๐
Another one i'm responsible for corrupting with funky Lycra ๐ My beautiful Saluki lurcher bitch died 2 years ago. I have another, 18 months old, and i run with him sometimes x
Oh Iโm so sorry to hear about your lovely wee dog, I hope you have made many cherished memories with Butch. Regarding the funky leggings, I own many pairs of sturdy by design, I just canโt help myself when they announce a sale or new range๐.
Itโs nice to see a familiar name back on this forum, keep running with your new pup !
Haha Butch - i didn't notice the typo. I meant bitch. Hey name was Isha. It broke my heart at the time as she was only 8, she had kidney disease. Iggy is coming along nicely sad a running companion. As for the leggings, let me corrupt you further. Pssst have you heard of Lucy Locket Loves? Flanci? Tikiboo? X
Ooh yes, Iโve heard of them both!! Only ever bought from tiki boo and sturdy, might give lll a wee go, itโs payday tomorrow... be rude not too๐๐๐happy running with iggy ๐พ๐พ
Hi Flick! Nice to see a post from you. Iโve been very absent here as well but pop in every now and then to read and like some posts but havenโt had it in me to contribute much. Iโve also kept up with my running focussing on consistency instead of distance for the last while but am hoping to make my way back to this group and all the amazing support and encouragement it provides.
I often think of you, bundled up like a ninja, running in your Canadian winters. I'm glad you're still around. I shan't be on here much at the moment for the reasons stated, but it's nice to touch base with friends from here who don't link up via Facebook and/or Strava
Hello Flick, Iโm still here in sunny Southsea (sometimes). Iโm sorry to hear that the last 3 years have not been good but glad to hear you are still running. You canโt keep those great leggings indoors.
Great to hear from you & to know that despite everything, you're still running. My running is a bit sporadic having taken a dive through health niggles & lockdown stress & have barely kept up with the forum. But, slowly building up again. Hope life is treating you well.
I'm sorry to hear about your health niggles. Running is so fragile, so many things that can interfere. I think s lot of people were affected by lockdown too x
