Kinesiology tape - advice please from those of you who use it.

The swelling I get on my injured left knee is bottom right of the kneecap if I’m looking at it from above - the inner front side of the leg. It’s a permanent ancient injury. I’ve run with an elasticated bandage for two years, but after my experience of Oxford half, I think the bandage has made it swell more. I’ve been doing shorter runs with it unstrapped, but I’m getting some pain from time to time. What configuration of tape do I need? I shall put this on the Facebook page too.

Googling has left me none the wiser.

Thanks Tash - not sure if it’s quite the right spot but worth a try

Basically, from what I understand, you stretch a long piece vertically over the area with no tension and put shorter pieces across with tension, idea being that the skin is lifted. My shin is very taped up at the minute! Not sure I believe it but the pain totally went so 🤷🏽‍♀️

I guess I need to be sure I’m taping the right bit 😂

I'm a big fan of k tape, but I've not used it on my knee. I've always used an elasticated knee support. Good luck though 🙂

I was using an elasticated support, but I think it might have been making the problem worse

Definitely worth trying something different. I didn't have any support for my knee today and all was good. Happy days :) Have you got yourself an MRI appt yet?

I’ve been running with nothing in that knee and it seems fine. Only short runs though

Ive commonly seen it used for Achilles problems and some people swear by it.

I have no personal experience sadly so I hope this trick works for you!
