Well what a brilliant run to finish my challenge πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Kept thinking something was going to get in the way and I wouldn't complete, but.. felt good thismornin, had to wait till some of the icey patches cleared before heading out❄️

The first 3K my ankles and calf's felt tight..and in my head i was, thinking (have I caught covid) πŸ™„long story won't go into it πŸ˜…

But it passed and the pace settled for the next few K's... Once I passed the half way 6thK I managed to pick up my pace and felt like I was running like the wind πŸ˜‚πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Last 3Ks were my fastest and I finished with a 12K personal best of 1.25 🎊🎊🎊

I'm so chuffed to have managed 300K from January to March πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ™

Just have to keep it up the rest of the year 😜

I'm away for a sing song in the shower πŸ˜‚πŸšΏπŸ’ƒ

Happy Running all πŸ™ŒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒ

A big congratulations on completing that 300K for the first 3 months of the year, have a few days off running before the second stage of the 1200K for 2022 begins in April. 😊 πŸƒπŸΎ πŸ‘

Yes Alan, thanks, I fully intend to.. been running constant 12Ks so need to take care πŸ™‚

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrHalf Marathon in reply to sparky66

That's excellent Caroline, 2/12K's a week is 24K*by 4 weeks a month =96K,, so just a short 4K to make up the 100K, a wonderful achievement. 😊 πŸƒπŸΎ πŸŽ“, IF I did it I would run 2/10Ks and 1/5K a week, that would be 25K a week *4=100K a month.

sparky66 profile image
sparky66Half Marathon in reply to AlMorr

This sounds very sensible and easily doable Alan, but..With my schedule..I often only manage two runs per week, I do strength training on most non run days..

I'm going to draw up a chart around my other commitments and see what I can do..

Ideally I'd like a 10mile once a month and a HM sometime soon, haven't ran one since end of December, so if I can manage those I should be on target..

Also I've not ran a 5K for such a long time..ide like one now and then to work on my speed work πŸ‘

Thanks for your input,I appreciate it πŸ™

Well done sparky66 ! You're definitely ahead of me on 2022 mileage.

I also completed a virtual challenge today, though it included walks as well as runs. Made it to 4828m elevation gain in March, 2894m as runs.

sparky66 profile image
sparky66Half Marathon in reply to Cmoi

Well done on your challenge CmoiπŸŽŠπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘Excuse my ignorance but have no idea about elevation gain?

Take it this is on Strava and not Garmin?

I really need to educate myself 🀣

But well done πŸ‘πŸ˜…

Cmoi profile image

Thanks sparky66 ! πŸ˜€

Elevation gain is the total gain in elevation over the entirety of a run or walk. It's also called total ascent - you can see it in screenshots on some of your previous posts, for example you did a 16.1k run with 43m total ascent.

This was actually a challenge by a real-life running group who have very kindly allowed me to become a virtual member! I was aiming to exceed the height of Mont Blanc, which for the purposes of the challenge was given as 4808m. Quite a few in the group will have exceeded Everest, at 8849m. That boggles my mind a bit.

sparky66 profile image
sparky66Half Marathon in reply to Cmoi

AHH I think I understand a bit more (maybe)πŸ˜… thank you.. I doubt very much that I've achieved much elevation on my runs, they're pretty flat!

But interesting, thank you 😊

4808m !!! Sounds extreme.. to think running EVEREST!! That boggles my brain 🀣

Although I told my mom today if I finish my challenge for the year ahead.. I would have ran from my house in Wigan to hers in Glasgow..thereand back, band there again 🀣

Wow! I've only succeeded at the 2000m run ascent challenge once, this January. I suppose being in such a hilly area helps. 🀣

Cmoi profile image
CmoiMarathon in reply to nowster

It does nowster (if I want 90m+ elevation in the first km of a run from the door I've got it!) though I find being a weirdo is also exceptionally helpful! 🀣

nowster profile image

Well done! πŸ†

I just reached 100 miles this month (real running, not counting warm up/cool down walks) with today's run.

This quarter (helped by RED January) I did 484km of actual running.

My approach is to mix things up: 10km about twice a week, at least one 2 miler and parkrun, plus a possible long run on a Sunday. I'm trying to keep up my habit of doing one run of HM or longer per month. The longer the Long Run, the less I'll do during the week. And if I need a rest day, I take a rest day.

sparky66 profile image
sparky66Half Marathon in reply to nowster

Nowster, you're a machine!!!Mean lean running machine 😝

I like your plan!

I'm taking my rest day tomorrow to chart something out πŸ‘

Definitely want to include a couple of 10Miles and a half marathon..or two in the next quarter!

And yes rest days are so important πŸ™
