Woke early as it's grandaughter visit day πŸ₯°

No time if I wait till it's light, and too dark for trails,so only option was to run on the streets.. I've only ever ran roads on way to trails or on my few races..

Thought it might be a bit boring, but I actually quite enjoyed it, lots of Christmas lights in Windows and in gardens begining to light up was lovely.. just stayed on the pavement all the way to 5K and back again.. just as the sun was rising.. lovely 😍

Glad I done this run as now I can use this route if it's too muddy on the trails πŸ‘πŸ‘

I got a 1K PB of 5:50 so looking at Linda's Challenge that means I can tick off 3 ..

One for an early morning run..one for my PB and one for a new route πŸ˜ƒ

Now for the fun with my wee Sunshine πŸ€—πŸ₯°

Happy Running all πŸ™ŒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒ

Well done Sparky! That Screwfix sounds like a useful shop πŸ˜ƒ. I reckon we’ve done things the other way round, I’ve tended to have done roads, but I’m starting to sniff out a few trails. Well done on that PB and have a lovely time with your granddaughter πŸ‘πŸŽ„πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜Š.

I was put off road running a few years back after graduating previously.. I was sure the hard surface contributed to my knee pain.. so I think I'll only use it once in a while.. although I'm much fitter and with the strength training it might be okay.. great to know it's there when needed πŸ‘Thanks Frenc.. ☺️

I think you’re probably very right, roads can be harsh on our joints. Could do with some pogo shoes or some such!

The trick is to land with most of the impact force on the forefoot, with a slightly bent leg, landing under (or slightly behind) the hips, only lightly touching the heel to the ground. It's initially harder on the leg muscles and tendons, but you do adapt.

Enjoy your time with your 'wee sunshine', nice early morning run for you today Caroline, it was around last year at this time when there were no parkruns on a Saturday morning that I ran a series of (not) parkruns on a Saturday morning, a small part of my route was around a small houseing estate at dawn, it was lovely seeing all the Christmas lights on, both in the houses and outside in the gardens, congratulations on that 10K and especially the 1K PB.
