Early alarm this morning, so that I could have breakfast and still get out before it warmed up too much (I can not run on empty!) I think it was just after 6.30am when I headed off - planning for a 10k and hoping for a bit more - up to 13k depending on how I felt.
I took this run purposely slowly due to the heat but also because I haven't run further than 12k since before my niggly knee/it band troubles (now resolvedπ€).
Right from the off, this felt like a good run. I settled into an easy pace and headed off in to the local countryside - first on a farm road and then off road across a field, before joining the Downslink. At this time of day, the temperature felt good - my weather app said it was humid but with the gentle breeze and some broken cloud it was comfortable. The bridleways and paths were quiet initially, with just a few mountain bikers on the Downslink. The early hour meant I saw a couple of deer, which always feel like an honourπ - me in their world at this time of day!π¦
Some of the narrower muddier trails are now hard-baked by the sun but the leafy old railway line was as cool, shady and peaceful as ever...and I just wanted to keep on running! ππ½ββοΈAdded a little on to my planned route and ended up hitting 14K. A lovely run and a very happy runner - returned home for a slice of the banana cake I made yesterday! π
Happy running everyone - run early, seek the shade...and eat cake!π

Well done, so great that you were able to feel good and run 14k! A super sign that you are on the road back. πππ
Sounds like a lovely run Sandraj39 ππ I started out at about 7:00 this morning but even then I could only manage 7k, and even that included some walking. Not to worry, itβs another outing under my belt!ππ
Oh, that sounds a great run ππ, fantastic 14k, well done for your early start (I got out at 7.30, but luckily a cooling breeze helped). Looks a varied route.
Great run Sandra, so pleased that your recovery is complete (π€). Just troughed some brioche bread and butter pudding to assist my build up to 8k tomorrow; canβt be too careful!!π
Sounds like a fabulous run for you today well paced with a nice mix of terrain. Cake is always good after a run. I came back from mine and made cupcakes - think it's time to have a cuppa and check they taste suitably yummy. Happy running π€
Sounds delicious! It was really pleasant here when I got up so an early run would have been nice. That's a great distance too, good to hear the IT band didn't complain.
I always struggle to get up early - by the time I eat my porridge, let it digest and finally get to go running it's no longer early! I do keep trying but it will be a long, long time before I equal your performance this morning - hats off to you ππππ
Need to set my alarm for tomorrow - it will NOT be before 6am no matter what, any earlier then I'm wrecked for the rest of the day and Monday is always a full day!
Alarm was set for 6. I woke at 5.15 needing the loo. By 5. 37 I couldn't deny the need for the loo again (not a great pre-run startπ¨) so got up, got my kit and got out by 6.30am. All the while this conversation was in my mind ... maybe there is more wrong with me than I care to admit!!!
