So nice to run this morning! I suddenly realised I must look a bit like a running geek, what with head torch, reflective vest thing, etc etc. All that was missing were the calf sleeves which I don’t need at the mo. And I smiled because who is this person who dresses like a runner and who started their tentative C25K almost a year ago? Me that’s who!
Anyway, a sort of out and back along a dark lane. It’s very undulating and tbh I can only tell how steep it is by how hard I’m working. The torch is great, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. It was 2 degrees, clear, and just perfect. The first time in an age I wore long sleeves, which were needed especially at the start.
The photo has some cows in it - it’s difficult to tell, but they were very intrigued by my stopping and taking a snap!
Managed negative splits today which was nice to see. Still deciding about the virtual HM coming up, I’ll see how my long run feels on Friday.
Hey ho off to the wonderful world of work. Have a smashing day all! 🐄🌙🏃♀️🍂

Lol no I can’t see them either! I think the picture got cropped. But they were there honest 😁.
Iek... you're more courageous than I am! I refuse to run in the dark, I find it much to dangerous with all those crazy people running loose. I do hope that I'll be able to fit in 5K after work in the coming weeks / months. That it won't be (too) dark yet when I run...
It’s funny you say that because before I went I imagined all sorts of strange people hiding in bushes. But then I thought who in their right mind would hide in a bush in the freezing cold! I saw a cat though.
Looks gorgeous Frenc! I’ve never run in the dark, mainly because I know it wouldn’t end well (I’d fall down a hole or something on my trails!) and the roads round here aren’t safe.
You’ve come such a long way in just a year Frenc 😃👍 Well done and well done again for an early morning run. Something I’ve never done. I’m just not great at mornings.
Ah thank you! Even though I’m a morning person, it can be tough I have to admit. I tried at lunchtime but it was always a rush. And after work - well, I always have good intentions until I get home and sit down 🤣.
It looks as though it was such a beautiful morning, I love my early morning runs as well, I like the fact there’s hardly anyone around (perhaps so I’m not seen running and don’t inflict the sight of my running gear on too many people!).
It’s so peaceful and hearing the birds makes it extra special.
I have often thought about getting a torch, but worry I’d find it uncomfortable or off putting.
Yes the mornings are special aren’t they 😊. I don’t mind the torch although it can wibble on my head a little bit 🤣. I think you can get chest torches as well, I know not everyone likes the idea of a light strapped to their head! 😊😊😊
Ah thank you sparky, us nerds need to stick together 😊. Honestly I just don’t know how long I’ll manage at the mo 🤣. Have been doing quite a lot in the gym and my poor little legs don’t know if they’re coming or going - trouble is I do strength to help with the running, only to barely be able to walk! I’ll have a better idea Friday fingers crossed 🤞.
I know what you mean.. I don't gym, but have a pretty good set up at home..so it's strength training one day, Run the next, usually with one or two rest days a week..It's about balancing it out..hard day workout..less distance run the next day..
Long run.. rest day.. short 5K ... workout.. 10K.. how's the weather..am I busy..when can a long run fit.. hahaha
I chart my weeks on coloured paper on back of my kitchen door (now who's the nerd) 🤣
But it's a great reminder of when a long run needs fitting in 😂
Oooh I want coloured paper too! It’s so much easier to see it visually 😁. It’s pretty sad but I’ve written down every single run since finishing C25K - Garmin and Strava are great but paper rules! I feel another plan coming on …. 🤣
I made up the 3 0clock buzz, coz I tend to think..AHH I've done enough today.. lazing on the sofa..I set a 3 o'clock alarm and get up for a wee 5/15 min move..can be anything from turning the radio on and having a boogie..to gentle stretching.. or a few dumbbell moves..
I can recall reading a columnist in a running mag saying that he actually ran into the back of a cow on a dark run 😁🐄. I wonder who was more startled 😃
I know right?! Thankfully this route is pretty much me at this time of day. Although I saw some headlights ahead of me not moving which was a bit weird. Until I drew alongside and realised it was a milk float doing its deliveries. For a while I thought it was a ghost car or something 😁.
