Another GSR post following on from todayโ€™s event. It was very well organised and the support around the course was fantastic! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘ Unfortunately I set off far too quickly so I soon realised I couldnโ€™t maintain that pace (note to self: run your own race next time, not the pace others are running at!) I had to walk from time to time but I managed to finish strongly which I was pleased about ๐Ÿ˜Š In the last stretch along the seafront I overtook some runners whom Iโ€™d seen disappearing off into the distance when I had to walk earlier on. Thereโ€™s probably a lesson for all of us there๐Ÿ˜‰

It was lovely to meet up with some of our HU friends too! Looking forward to hopefully meeting up again when the planets align for all of usโ˜บ๏ธ A great weekend that Iโ€™ll remember for a long time ๐Ÿ˜€

A wonderful achievement for you today David G, nice photos as well, I can see the runners in the distance, aren't those big banners up high pace makers for various times, I have ran 5 /10 miles runs, averageing 2 hours 4 minutes, from 2:08 to my 5th 10 miles run 2 weeks ago of 2:01:02, so if I had ran at this mornings GSR I would have followed the 2 hours pacer, once again a big congratulations. ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพ

Thanks AlMorr they were banners from the companies that sponsored the run, but there certainly were pace runners out there. If only Iโ€™d found a pace runner for a sensible pace Iโ€™d have been much better off! ๐Ÿ˜‰

IF there had been a 2 hours pacer, now that's a little more than 37 minutes 5K pace, 75 minutes 10K pace, which I have run quite often, however, if I could keep that pace up with a 2 hours pacer I might be able to run 10 miles in around 2 hours, if it was like parkrun, I usually can run a quicker 5K there than running myself, so who knows a 2 hours 10 miler with other runners might be achieveable for me.

Well done, fast starts and mid race struggles seem to have been the theme today ๐Ÿ™„

Yep, different race but I too started off a bit quick so the latter part of my race was spent just hanging on to whatever pace I could maintain.

Yes a very memorable day DG - sorry the planets didn't align for us to meet up today.

Thanks LadyGault itโ€™s a lesson I need to learn. Maybe I could use one of the guided runs on the Nike Run Club app, just to get me started the right way ๐Ÿค”

Great photos David_G - it was a fab event wasnโ€™t it?๐Ÿ˜€Yes, its so easy to go off too fast and pay for it later - and you are not alone in doing that!

Well done.๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ…

It was lovely to have you with us David, it was a great weekend wasnโ€™t it?! Well done on your run , lots of lessons to be learned for next year!

Running is full of lessons to be learned isnโ€™t it David? You still ran a great race though and it was lovely to meet you! My lesson was learned when I ran the Bristol HM recently - eating breakfast before a long run. I didnโ€™t then and flagged. I did today and didnโ€™t flag! Youโ€™ll find todayโ€™s lesson will benefit you next time. ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Well done on the strong finish. It's so easy to go too fast at first in all the excitement, and there's nothing wrong with walking for a bit, but it's good for the spirit to be able to get back to a run for the end of a race.๐Ÿ˜€

Good to see you over the weekend David, and I will join you in the went too fast, walked , ran club. It was warm in the sun and took us by surprise I think.

Having done a (not) parkrun in Southsea before , you knew you didnโ€™t have far to go once you saw the sea on your left so it was great that you could pick it up again for a strong finish.

Finishing a race strongly is great and is proof that, despite you going off too fast, you paced yourself well. Well done to you David on a great sounding run ๐Ÿ‘

Thatโ€™s fab bling too! ๐Ÿ˜

Absolutely fabulous... what a great run you had, even though you set off like a greyhound:)So exciting at these events that unless you place yourself right at the back ( if you can,) you get carried away.

Huge well done you!
