Oh, I do love this race! β€οΈ The course, the atmosphere, the support ππ is all amazing!
Today was the third time I have run it - and although I set off feeling good, by the time I hit 7 miles my legs were feeling so tired! A couple of short walk breaks didnβt make a huge differenceπ€£, so I just kept it very slow and steady over the last couple of miles. Maybe I went off too quickly, maybe it was just one of those runs but boy was I glad to cross the finish line!π₯΅π
Time-wise (1:48:50) this was pretty much what I thought Iβd run but a good few minutes down on what I ran last time and some way off my best time.
The big positive from the day howeverπ, was how good my left knee felt. I really wasnβt aware of any discomfort at all ( runners knee has been a bit of a nuisance on longer runs since an injury a few years back).
Oh, and thereβs a relatively ok photo of me running past HMS Victory too! (I love the Historic Dockyards)
Looking forward to reading all the other run reports as they come through!π

Well done Sandra! Thatβs a mighty decent time in my book, and I agree it was fantastic wasnβt it? Weβve been home about 30 minutes and now Iβm good for nothing!
Well said Sandraj39 I agree with you about the quality of the event and organisation! Great atmosphere and everyone was so friendly. Iβve stopped beating myself up now for going off too quickly.π Iβm just basking in the glory of having finished, and now Iβve got a GSR target to aim at! ππ What a lovely weekend itβs been!
Fantastic run and time for you today at The Great South Run Sandraj39, glad you enjoyed it, I don't see the photo of you running past HM'S Victory, it's probably on the GSR Results Page, enjoy the rest of the evening. π ππΎ
Well done Sandra. Iβm glad the knee held out for you and you got to run it all. I spent years cheering on runners at the GSR before I ever thought I could run it 2 years ago. The residents of Henderson Road were absolutely fabulous. Although very hot, we were lucky with the weather (especially the wind)
Well done Sandra! Fab time! Yes, those last two miles were hard work. I know the wind wasnβt that bad butβ¦! It is a wonderful race, I can see why you keep doing it.
Well done Sandra and congratulations on joining the 3 timers club. For me, once seemed enough (2017). Then I entered again (2019) and that time said never again. I am currently recovering from hip replacement surgery so suspect that distance will be a future no no, even if I come round to wanting to do it again.
Super well done Sandra! Thatβs brilliant, and how great to run past the dockyard and that your knee behaved. Iβm hearing such good things about this race, itβs very tempting! Well done again ππππββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπ π π .
