GMU DNF ☹

This was much, much harder than a marathon! On reflection, I think that's down to fitness; if I was fitter, it wouldn't be anything like as hard. It was all going well to something past marathon distance but then my legs seemed to, err, run out of run. I missed the cutoff for the last checkpoint. Elected to complete the route and arrived back at the start seriously late. I'll have a go at a race report later on.

Don’t be too hard in yourself. You did incredibly well to get that far. Hope you can recover today.

Well done for finishing! That’s an achievement in itself. Bunker down and rest 🥵

Well done SkiMonday, I take my hat off to you! I can’t even start to contemplate those types of distances - very proud of you 👍.

Well your aim was to complete the event comfortably, which you did! Amazing stuff!

I just read your bio - you have achieved so much and should be proud. I’m sorry about the cut-off times - but you pushed on to complete anyway. Rest up well now.🙂

So you did finish you were just a bit slower than you needed to be. To continue when you knew it would be marked as DNF takes great strength and determination. It looks like an amazing accomplishment to us mere mortals who see a half marathon as a major goal in itself.

Hopefully once you have had some rest and food you will see it in a more positive light.

I'm so proud to be on a chat with someone who can achieve such things!

But it wasn’t a DNF Ski, you did finish, just not within the time constraints. That is still very impressive! 👏👏👏

Well done SkiMonday 💪🏻

That’s an amazing achievement to complete. Can’t wait to read your run report when you’ve rested👍🏻

You did great, especially after your fall, your ankle, and probably other setbacks I can't recall...great job, amazing that you completed it even though you knew it would be a DNF - no medal I assume? Get yourself one from Sprinters...

Fantastic you completed - you should be so proud, awesome 👏👍🎉

SM you were awesome and you completed YOUR epic race. Barely any of us on here would even consider attempting a marathon, let alone an ultra. You’re Superman, and should be very very proud. 🏃👊👏

Given where you were at, wondering if you should even try, it's a fantastic achievement. To go on and finish when you knew it wouldn't officially count even more so. It's a hell of a distance either way. 💪🏻

Very well done! Yes, I'm sure with better fitness and no recent injuries you'd have been well within the cutoff but we can only work with what we have on the day 👍🏻😁

It was still a record distance run after less than ideal training. Great achievement!

That, in a nutshell, is why I hate cut-off times for this type of event. It's not a DNF, you've still run an ultra SkiMonday , and a demanding one at that, so congratulations! Incredible strength and determination, especially when you consider how many setbacks you've had. I think that in your position I'd have got my doctor to sign me off so I could get my money back.

Huh! Sounds to me like you finished. It must have been phenomenally difficult from that last checkpoint. What amazing resilience, especially after all the issues. Once the dust settles, I hope you will feel very proud of staying the distance. In the meantime, be nice to yourself.

Brilliant run SkiMonday; you did what you set out to do by completing the distance. Cut off points are only relevant to run organisers; they are not “pass/ fails” !! Time to celebrate 🎉!!!

You finished in my book! Well done indeed. I take my hat off to you as it takes guts to do this stuff, and you did it. Not quite in the way you'd planned but hey there's always a next time

Rest up, recupate, re-evaluate. You've got the know-how now to re-do it but more on your terms next time.

I look forward to hearing about it

Brilliant resilience that you completed the route SM! Such a mind-boggling distance and given your recent niggles I think it’s amazing that you finished this.

Very well done 👍

I add to all the well dones here.... That's an incredible distance, no way I could even contemplate it, so you have had a massive achievement by completing the course! I think that's very mean to say DNF when you DID finish.... Agree with someone above, get yourself a medal... I feel like getting one for you!! Please don't feel bad... Honestly, I and probably most of the world stand in admiration... You did brilliantly to go SO far and you DID finish!!!!

I am in awe of you for even attempting this distance. And to see that you completed it despite the circumstances is inspiring. Well done. 👏👏👏👍

What an amazing achievement, to carry on to the finish when not only are you finding it tremendously hard but that regardless of finishing you will be classed as a DNF is very impressive SM, very impressive indeed...that's the sort of grit that will have you doing it again, hopefully under better circumstances so your fitness is ticketyboo! 💪👏
