HM training Run 12 - getting back on track

Friday - lovely early morning 7km

Saturday - 5km Park Run heavy rain, thunder and lightning!!

Today - long run day but the gremlins were hovering. I got up late and it was very warm so I didn't feel very enthusiastic! But I needed to get in a long run.......so I set off for a short warm up walk and then decided that perhaps this was the day to have a go at 'Jeffing'. I read another post by someone who said that they have a short walk every km and since my watch alerts me to each km I thought that would work quite well. I found it really helped me get over my initial lack of enthusiasm and the fact that I was struggling with the heat. I missed the walk section a few times - on a downhill part and again when I stopped to talk to a lady on a horse. But had to walk a bit on this narrow trail which had become quite overgrown in places (my legs still hurt from all the stinking nettles!). It was a real struggle at times but I plodded on determined to run over 10km. Managed 13km, just, and walked a final km to get home. Phew!

It’s the long runs that build you in so many ways, especially in this sticky weather, jeffing makes a difference

Super well done for beating those gremlins - especially as it was warm when you went out! That looks like a lovely trail, nice and shady and mysterious. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Ooh that looks pretty! Sounds like you managed that run really well - it's great to try out different approaches and find what works best on these long runs 😊
