Thank you so much for organising this virtual event. It was great fun to be able to take part in it. I loved the play list and it kept me motivated after 12k when I started flagging. Unfortunately I couldn't hear the RunGo comments due to the wind, but I will enjoy them over my next couple of runs.
I set off late morning after walking the dog by which time the heavy rain had eased to a drizzle. Uphill out of the village and into the wind was tiring and I quickly abandoned my planned route on the country lanes in search of less puddles and shelter!
All was going well, I had my garmin recording laps, high 5 drink and raisins, the hu playlist, my legs were tired, but I was ok and I was planning my route back so that the final 1.3k would be a nice downhill run into the village.
Unfortunately, something went wrong, probably my brain. Imaging my horror when I arrived home, checked Strava and found that I had run 12.51miles, followed by a cool down walk of half a mile. "Its not worked " I sobbed to hubby.... Anyway, everyone has been very kind and I have completed the hm distance, although maybe not as intended.
Next time, I will be taking a stop watch too and writing the HM distance on my hands in both miles and Kms!!! ππ
Training for this event has kept me motivated and focused on running through the cold months of January and February, so thanks for that too. I can't wait for the next one!
Have a relaxing evening.ππ

Hi Cantstopmeow. I was hoping you would file a report. Good to see it. Donβt worry about the difference. Surely itβs close enough? A massive achievement, however you look at it. Hope you have recovered now.
Congratulations on your race and I do think it counts! No worries, you are not alone in your technology woes. I realized halfway through my HM that I had paused my watch at a stoplight and forgot to unpause it until much later, so I had to have Strava treat it all as a race in order to collect all the moving time. I had to run a few km longer to make up for it. Live and learn! Although I'm sure I will make the same mistake again Hope you have your feet up and are relaxing and enjoying your great achievement!
Oh gutted CSMN but you know you did the distance, just one of those things.
After never doing it before last week I've twice...TWICE, paused Garmin for e.g. while I had a gel and realised a while later I'd not started it again! Don't know where my brain is but my 12 miler says 11.7 and my 5 miler says 4 miles!!! I just carried on until I was sure I'd done the distance, pulling tongues at my Garmin coz my legs know better π
Actually relieved it's not just me...must be these long tiring runs addling our minds π
Congrats on your soggy HM πββοΈπ...hoping the weather improves for mine on Friday π€
Oh techπ! and oxygen deprived brainsπ!!! One of the perils of virtual runs in that there are no marshals to keep you on track, no gantry and timing mat to give you the nod when your distance is reached. It definitely counts. Submit your result for the run you did - even if not how you intended (or did you want to run it again later in the week? no, right, so this one counts!!!). Well done!!! And thank you for all your enthusiasm - it is really appreciated π
Every time you turn a corner, your tech will shave it a little. Your tech only connects to the GPS every few seconds so if you reach the corner in between two connections it will join the dots so that the corner is less sharp. And when it canβt connect it just guesses based on your recent location and trajectory, so it βsmoothsβ some wiggly bits of a route as well as losing distance on the corners. So you almost certainly did more than your tech tells you you did. Iβm sure your HM counts.
I hope you realise you completed a fantastic HM yesterday CSMN regardless of silly tech! Lots of people walk during their runs, so the fact you tacked your cooldown walk onto the end is totally legit! π₯
Hope you enjoyed your well deserved glass of wine and bath! I certainly did - and I ate like a horse too! π
Great run.. Well done. Yeah your cool down took you to the distance, and u were close enough! But tbh I think I'd of felt the same at first. Pleased u celebrated ππu def deserved too
It is very easy to get emotional when you are physically and mentally exhausted but you most definitely did it so well done you! I walked a fair bit of my last half mile too because of it being a huge steep hill!
Congrats on your run - when I did my first 10 miles I found myself searching "10 miles in km" along the way so I was sure I got there. But your cool down walk got you over the line and look at all the shiny badges popping up everywhere!
