A year ago, I went for a 2 mile jog with a friend and barely survived! I was so disappointed, as I had already done the couch to 5k, but hadn’t run over the winter months, so I re-started the couch to 5K and just under a year later I competed in the Virtual Bath Half... and did it!l! I’m so pleased! What’s more- I’ve become an all round runner- no longer just a fair weather one and have kept up my running all year! 🏃♀️🤗
I love the support of the forum- love all the encouragement, advice and motivation. Thanks to you all for being with me every step of the way! So excited where my journey has taken me so far and look forward to new challenges on the horizon... now- could I do a “live” half? 🤔 ☺️🤗

Well done and many congratulations to you! Your first HM is such a special memory so enjoy the after glow and feel very proud of yourself 🙂 You’ve just run 13.1 miles for fun 💪
A real life event will be easier because the atmosphere will give you a real boost and added adrenaline. So yes, you absolutely should sign up for one as soon as things open up again.
Thank you Irishprincess- that is very encouraging to know.... I wondered if it would be the opposite so it’s great to hear otherwise! I shall start looking ahead to live events!!
Woohoo Ellesbelles, really well done! I’ve never run a HM race, just one in training and 3 virtuals, including Bath today! I can’t wait to run the real thing, hopefully the rescheduled Bath Half in September assuming it goes ahead. 🤞
Can’t wait to see your new badge. Bet you can’t either! 😍
Thanks so much cheekychipmunks! Well done on running your 4th today!! 😳☺️ Good luck for the one in September- let of what puts me off is knowing Bath is quite hilly in places!! 😂 I’m originally from Suffolk- flat land- so not used to hills! 😜I am definitely inspired to try a live one though- it would be good to try something different! For now- I’ll ride on the high of the half! 🤗
The Bath HM route is pretty flat actually. I went to school in Bath, and used to work there, so I made mighty sure before I entered as I know it’s famous for its hills!
Bristol is a nice flat course if you’re local to here. 😀
First of all, massive congratulations. Secondly, there's your new badge! Finally YES. YES OF COURSE you can do a 'live half' - the hardest part of that will be finding one that's actually happening, the rest will be easy. Well done on your determination and success over the last year. Here's to many more years of happy running.
Thanks Linda! So kind and so much encouragement! I’m psyched for this now- and excited as they start to open up again! So lovely to see it written by my name... it makes it SO real! Love these groups! xx
Fabulous Elles! Huge congratulations! 👏👏👏 and you’ll absolutely love a ‘live’ half. It takes a lot of self motivation and determination to do your first HM on your own. When you do it with others spectators and the others help pull you along and give you an even bigger buzz. You won’t look back now! Well done on your amazing journey!
Congratulations! Fantastic achievement! 🥳🥂🍾🎉🏆If you want to do a live half and you're worried about hills, I've signed up for the Bristol half in September. It's all at sea level, so it should remind you of Suffolk. 👌
Congratulations Ellesbelles85 on your 1st half marathon bask in the glory you deserve it. Take a gentle running week this week and start to plan your next one 🤔great job well done 👍👏🏃🏻♀️🏅🎉
