Happy New Year, everyone ! Today was my first 10 mile attempt - semi jeffing it. I say โsemiโ because my intervals are a bit longer than in Jeffโs plan, ie I run 1km run, 30 seconds walk (though towards the end the intervals were a bit erratic) ๐คฃ - however I did run the entire last mile without jeffing. Ie finished in style you could say. Phew ! But thanks to Coach Bennett, who Iโve been two-timing with, I have a proper record of the run (and thanks, Coach, for keeping me going!). Something was up with Garmin GPS today - first of all it took ages to get a GPS signal and Iโd already run a km before it started ! Then it was buzzing my km splits a bit too enthusiastically - giving me 4 mins, 5mins, one was even under 4mins at 3:57 ๐คฃ I mean thatโs really not me - Iโm ecstatic if I come in under 7mins per km ! Clearly something wrong as coach Bennett was giving me different countdown altogether and was closer to what felt like reality.
Long story short I did it (blast him for introducing fartlek at 7 miles - gah !! Iโll shake HIM up a little bit if he tries to โshake things up a littleโ again !) - and hurrah I did it. Sense of relief it was over rather than joy, suggesting maybe I wasnโt ready for it...
anyway, the Garmin wouldnโt sync for a while and then when it did I had to laugh - itโs had me running around a completely different part of London for a while - places Iโve never been (and never likely to) - including rather curious place called Locksbottom - and only seems to have picked up my real location at about 6.5 miles in (according to Nike app). So according to Garmin Iโve run over 12 miles with an elevation gain of 8315 metres !! Well, thatโs nearly Everest !! ๐๐
In reality Iโll only โclaimโ the Nike app data - 10 miles and 143 metre elevation gain, 2hours 8 mins, average km pace 7:58.
Now for some food. Ravenous !!! ๐ maybe a nap a bit later. ๐ด I love Sundays !

Look at you ๐๐Wahooooo! A great run and despite some technical problems you got that 10 miles ๐๐๐ A terrific distance and huge congratulations to you!
Great run Juliet; ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฅ. A first 10 miles is a big deal to be celebrated properly!, You are now only a Park Run short of an HM .....๐.
Thanks ! I think I'll take it easy these next few weeks - my target for HM is not for another 12 weeks according to the Garmin plan !! Maybe i'll crack it early. ๐
Fabulous! Garmin and GPS are definitely having issues at the moment, I don't think you're the only person struggling. But ten miles? That's a fabulous milestone and I've given you a shiny new badge. Congratulations!!!
Quite incredulous actually ! But considering I Jeffed it somehow it doesnโt feel authentic but Iโm a long way from not jeffing it ! Still happy though
Great 10miles run, brilliant start to the year. I think Garmin have some gremlins just now. I did a 6 and a bit km run on Monday, then a longish walk, although garmin had these recorded it also said Iโd only done 120 odd steps and burned 300 calories for the day, I was obviously flying. Great run for you though. Happy 2021 running ๐ค
Thatโs a biggee, 10 miles. So glad that technical malfunction didnโt put you off. Well done! I hope you managed to take it easy for the rest of the day.
Well done on completing your first 10 mile Juliet202 ๐๐ป๐๐ป when I did that NRC 10 miler, I thought Coach Bennett was being a bit ambitious throwing in some fartlek about three quarters of the way through, I did try, but youโd have needed some high spec scientific equipment to detect the increase in my pace at that stage ๐ Maybe 2021 could be the year we both reach a Half Marathon, weโre not far off now ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Thank you ! Ha, I did try for the first fartlek for 250m and even managed an increase in cadence without too much extra exertion (no increase in pace) - but I couldnโt do the second fartlek for 400 metres - was that little bit more tired and it was that little bit too long and I reached a very minor โbumpโ in the road (literally) and decided I couldnโt do it โuphillโ and was justified in stopping to avoid injury ๐. In fact my ankles are feeling it this morning - will have to take it easy. Good job my job can be done sitting down ! I think half marathon is a couple of months off yet.... maybe even longer. See you over the finishing line !
Woohoo ๐คธโโ๏ธ๐๐๐๐ well done, that's really impressive!! Many congratulations, fab run and great pace! ๐๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
