Give yourself a break

Literally and figuratively. In the last 6 days I've run 83 miles. About a week ago I started this chart, feeling I hadn't done "enough". What is "enough"?

It can be really useful to see progress laid out and compared with our own previous progress. Instead of feeling envious on Strava of others achievements we can really see our own. It's obvious when I look now; breaking my toe in April 18, overdoing things that year in Sept, finishing 2019 not just unable to run but barely walking or standing without pain.

Last year I expected 1500 miles from this year. All things considered 1379.3 ( no, I'm not going on the treadmill for .7 of a mile although I cannot deny the temptation) is pretty bloody good.

Yes I'm bad at giving myself too much stick. Now it's time to rest a little and plan the rest of my winter runs in a more gentle style! 🀣

I'm not saying HNY this year but I wish you all good health, good laughs and good runs. Remember; smiling is advanced πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜

By the way... I made this free graph on a really useful website called canva.com.

'Smiling is advanced' ... laughing out loud, takes me right back!!!You're amazing!!!

I'm going to wish you a Happy New Year. We can all find happiness if we keep looking - in a chart, in strava stats, blue skies and rolling hills, in your heart ... you don't have to look too far 😘

Amazing stats and graphs, I'd certainly call it enough. Very well done. I think you should give yourself a massive congratulations then permit yourself to relax a bit. I started chasing your totals on the 2020 challenge spreadsheet then I very quickly realised you are on a completely different journey from me so put the brakes on🀣 have a very happy and healthy running 2021

Aw thank you, and well done for seeing sense... unlike me πŸ™ˆ I knew I wouldn't have the time off to get that 300k badge again (unless I lose my job... now there's a cheery thought πŸ™„) so had to try for it. Going to try and relax a bit, very hard just now for everyone. πŸ’–

I was looking at the last 3 years on Garmin today. 2019 was double 2018 (lots of IC in '18, some in '19). 2020 was about 65% more than 2019. Think I'm close to my limit now though.

Knowing and keeping to your limits is good. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜ there is always next month/next year for the next increment! It's amazing how fast we forget how far we've come though.

I wondered how many you'd racked up in the past week. Every time I've been in to Strava you seem to have done at least another half marathon and I just think...how on Earth?!! What a way to finish the year JoJo! You are amazing!

I'm with you on the HNY but I have said it a couple of times. I'll say it tomorrow when it actually is NY, even if we can't be H just yet we can get near to it in our own special ways. The best of health to you and yours too x

It would have been even more but I cycled with hubby Christmas day 🀣 and did another 14m Christmas eve. So 97 miles in 8 days. At least I made full use of my week off and didn't spend it sitting on the sofa πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜ work will feel like a rest tomorrow 🀣

Chase the happy πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ’–

You have certainly had an inspiring year jojo. Full of wow moments every time I saw yet another of your half marathons. You are right to rein it in for a while of course as the line between IC and run can easily become blurred.

Wishing you, and everyone here, strength and wellness for the year ahead.
