Give me the beef πŸ’ͺ🏻

I'm on day 30 now of my 'run to live' regime and I'm loving it. I could definately feel improvements this week as I'm not as stiff and I found my hilly trail much easier this morning.

One thing I am doing is eating more protein, I've noticed if I eat 'empty' calories I feel starving and lack energy, but protein rich foods seem to revive me. Has anyone else noticed this or have any other top tips on food to improve running?

I've got fillet steak for tea and a rib eye joint for tomorrow :)

Happy Panthering

  • Wish i looked as glam as you in my selfies Ju-Ju! :( :) i'm not the greatest to ask as i'm a vegetarian! But i do like Irish Princesses Power flapjack recipe which seems to work for me, and a nice macaroni cheese pre race day, so thats tonight sorted :)

  • I will have a look for that, sounds good... Good luck today :) :)

  • Yes, wished I looked so good too. Suspect there are good metabolic reasons for feeling better on protein rather than empty calories but, even if there aren't, don't knock it if it works. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Btw, the 5k community is under spam attack again xx

  • yes i just saw that too, and sent in reports... B******S!

  • Indeed... They don't know who they are messing with though πŸ’ͺ🏻

  • Thanks, I know there was loads yesturday, I lost count of how many I got rid of, and thankfully the HU team have been on it overnight :)

  • Fillet steak and rib eye joint? Do you have space for one more at your dinner table?

I have no advice apart from asking did you try whey protain milkshakes? I did but never really noticed a difference, when I was doing long runs I would always eat but instead of fillet steaks I settled for peanut butter on toast.

And congratulations on your run streak or should that be run steak.

  • Oh yes I must get some peanut butter... And I can't do milkshakes, smoothies or anything vaguely like that- I don't like milk and I cannot bear the texture.... My son uses them though and they seem to work!! Yes always room for one more at the table, ribeye today πŸ˜‹

  • Looking so glam! Is this pre or post run? I find that if my breakfast is protein based I don't get hungry so quickly as if it's just toast and marmalade.

  • I'm a pescatarian (veggie with fish). Lots of pulses and pasta the night before (jet propelled on race day :-) )
