I have always ran in the morning. But over the last 2 weeks I have been out running at night and I must admit am enjoying it I have a high viz with lights on the back which is fine I think it does get dark in places I think I might need a front light but other than that its peaceful what are your thoughts on running at night

Hi Paul! I’m really glad you’re still running.
When I’m at work, I have to run at night. And club is always at night. At club, we have to wear a head or chest torch. If I’m running solo, I tend to run on well lit streets and bike paths so I don’t really need any extra lights. My main issue with running at night is when to eat/run! I tend to run before my main meal which can be hard when I’m really hungry after work 🤣
Here’s my head torch. I think it’s great.
Thoughts with you 😊

Really depends on where you're running. Some night runs I've really enjoyed, especially with moonlight and lovely starry skies, others my imagination goes into overdrive and it's really creepy 🤣 a headtorch or a chest light is always a good idea for dark runs, much easier to trip or catch a root or rabbit hole.

Good for you! 👍😃. Yeah, get a front light - or even a torch in your hand would do - to illuminate the ground in front of you where it’s really dark. Go slower ! 🙂.
There are fewer folks about so less dodging and weaving. Enjoy yourself Paul! 🙂

I’ve only ever run in the dark with a group and I really enjoyed it. I wore a chest torch. I don’t run on my own at night because my night vision is terrible and my country roads are very isolated. I’d probably end up in a ditch somewhere 🙄

Nice to mix it up Paul. I only run in the light because a) I’m a creature of habit and have always run in the morning, and b) I have nowhere safe to run in the dark anyway.
But it’s great that you enjoy it. I don’t think you can have too much high viz and lights. There are some numpty drivers out there!

I've not tried running in the dark, but recently tried cycling in it. I loved the peace, justme and the owls. However, when my light spun round and all went dark, I ended up in a ditch of water!!! Not recommended. Definitely get yourself a forward facing light!!!

Another night-runner here Paul!🔦🏃🏽♀️ I do avoid my beloved trails at night however and instead run on the local roads and pavements. A couple of the roads are unlit so I do have a chestlight which is fab! I find it really peaceful in the dark actually.🙂

I am a morning runner too, though night summer runs are lovely. Black ice at night is a bit tricky to gauge here this time of year even with a headlamp.
I really love the idea of running at night😍but the practicality of it doesn't work for me. Sounds like you have it sussed though, enjoy👍🏃Happy New Year🎉

Street lights are sometimes turned off in the early hours. And if your routes are poorly lit in places a torch is essential.I use a headtorch for visibility to drivers and fellow path users.
