Blisters

Been running for two years now, but today was my first experience of blistering on my feet 😢. Ran in the snow and ice today in my trail shoes and started to feel something odd around 5K in. I love my trail shoes and I paid a fair bit for them so don’t really want to bin them. Anyone got any good advice for preventing the blisters?

Have you run with wet feet before?

Yeah, but my feet were dry today. Blistered both feet in the same place (inside of mid/fore foot). I wear proper running socks and never had any trouble before. Is there a product anyone can recommend?

Strange, and how annoying!! Is there any sign of wear on the shoes?

I'm not terribly prone to blisters but I find leukotape is good. If you try it you'll need to have a plaster underneath it to protect the blisters until they are completely healed.

They’re my trail shoes with very little mileage in them. I’ll give the tape a try. Thanks so much.

Have you been wearing anything else that may have caused irritation and the run just exacerbated it to the point of being noticeable? For a while I was having real soreness on the ball of one foot. Never had it before and was wearing the same socks and shoes as always. In the end I realised I had been wearing some shoes without socks (nothing to do with running). I think I had irritated my foot but not really noticed. I used leukotape (or Kinesiology tape works if you have some) when running to protect it for a while and it has been fine ever since

Just bought some tape on Amazon. I’m sure it’ll come in handy.... just need to find some other running kit to make the free delivery 😉

Wet feet are more prone to blisters You can buy waterproof socks They look like verruca socks. Skins make them I think. Some trail shoes are waterproof but if yours aren’t you’re looking at socks. Or NO socks at all!

Our trail shoes are generally good at allowing water to drain away as we run. In cold weather though our socks aren’t going to dry as quick. If you’re not going far it’s not too serious, but for longer runs it’s got to be fixed. I put Vaseline all over my feet and toes If you’re going further take spare socks

Not what you're looking for?
