I bring glad tidings !!!! Yesterday was our biggest day so far. Massive kudos to everyone taking part π
βββ We hit our 2020 kilometre goal - once everything was logged it turns out we reached 2020 km on Saturday, in just 6 days!!! βββ
If this is the first you've heard of this challenge, see the link to the first post healthunlocked.com/marathon... - it's not too late to join in and to add any distance you've run or walked since Monday 21st!
At time of writing this post we now have an awesomeβ2020+570 kmβ in the pot.
βββ 2020 miles? Can we do this? YES WE CAN!!! βββ
To save you asking Mr Google, I already did it for you - he tells me 2020 miles is 3251 km - and we only have a fifth left to go.
7 days completed. So how many days do we have left? Well, that depends (hangs head in shame). I did say it was a ten day challenge. I also said it will run from 21st to 31st Dec. π Last night I realised that's 11 days ππ . I wonder how many of you spotted the error in my calculations (yep, me, the one whose adding up all your distances π ).
No problem! I reckon we can smash this target in ten days !!! 2020 miles by the end of Wednesday 30th December (that would leave us with 31st for a celebratory run/walk) π
Post and comment below when you get chance, to let us know how far you ran or walked today (Monday 28th) plus anything from earlier in the week that hasn't been logged yet.
Now to 2020 miles, but looking out of the window this morning.... everything is white! Snow and ice! π¨βοΈπ₯Άβ·βοΈβοΈπ§£. So I fear itβs cross training for me today!
I'm so disappointed our forecast has changed. I thought it had already snowed when I went to bed last night but it must've been a heavy frost and a trick of the moonlight! Hoping to get out for a short run this morning to try my hip out again π€. Enjoy your cross training, it won't be wasted π
Fabulous. What an amazing and dedicated group- you can't beat a good challenge. The dog loves the white stuff, so we will be adding a few more kms this morning ββοΈπΎ
Wow, 2020km ... In among all the Christmas excitement (well, family Zooms etc.) I forgot to contribute my 7k from Saturday, so thatβs another step towards the 2020 MILEstone. Should be a 10k later today if all goes well.
Brilliant numbers so far, running not safe for me this morning with the snow and ice π§ - Iβm not well balanced at the best of times as my hubby informed me at 7.30am when I looked out of the window to get ready for my 5k!!! but I will get a walk in later
Hello !! And another 10k run from me today, hurrah !! (Though i did a bit of run-walk going up some steep hills ! 192 metre elevation gain!) I guess it still counts. Tried to shake up my route.
Hi Linda and running friends! Iβve run another 8.76 km this morning by the seasideπββοΈ It only started raining for the final km so thatβs not too bad!βοΈ
It sure was, just took it steady, warm and toasty, gloves were off by about 4k....π....hoping the off road trails will get cold, dry and crispy by the end of the week.....π€βοΈ......and iβll be off! πββοΈ To my happy place....Mx
I didnβt realise I could back date! I commented my kilometres to yesterdayβs but before that ran a 5K on Christmas Day, a 5K on the 23rd and a 5K on the 21st if itβs not too late for those to be added!
Hi Linda. Another 11.8km from walking a local set of crags with a picnic at the top, beautiful day but goodness it was cold, which nicely froze up all the wet muddy bits.
My first proper run in the cold though we don't have any snow or ice here (yet). Long tights, double layer on top, buff for my neck, gloves and my trusty buff sun visor which triples up nicely as sweat band and ear muffs, plus gloves though they did come off around the 3.5km mark.
I think I prefer cold to hot. At least in the cold you can peel off the layers if you get too warm. And I have a stash of cold weather kit I haven't had the chance to use yet
I got out this afternoon hoping to see the sun set, but it was just grey and raining, just 1.5k to get me to 20.20k i the last 7 days most of todayβs was very wet, a little slow running and fast walking This was a great challenge to be part of thank you
Iβm back at work tomorrow but if I run any more this week i could log it in miles although the miles are so nearly there Thank you for keeping it up to date
I've already added my runs but forgotten all about my dog walks as I don't measure them. So this afternoon I set up Mr Garmin and did my afternoon route. Which means I can now add an extra 30.72k in afternoon dog walks from the 21st up to today's. I'll try to remember to measure my morning dog walk tomorrow π
All of those walks and runs were ran in good weather, where I live in Central Scotland the worst of Storm Bella was during the night, during the day wasn't too bad.
We had a little snow on Tuesday morning around 2 o'clock, I hope to run 8K on Wednesday morning, it may have to be run around a football pitch which is less slippy than pavements.
Well done to everyone completing the 2020 challenge.
I am really late to the party as I have not been able to post over Christmas. I have achieved 44.26km since the 21/12/2020. Some days have been better than others as I sometimes struggle to get out when I'm working but I have completed on average 6km per day.
