Hope you all had a good day yesterday, however different it was to the day you had hoped for π€
If this is the first you've heard of this challenge, see the link to the first post healthunlocked.com/marathon... - it's not too late to join in and to add any distance you've run or walked since Monday 21st!
So we're half way; five days done and five to go!!!
At time of writing this post we have a humungousβ1312 kmβ in the pot (see docs.google.com/spreadsheet... for the full details); that's almost two thirds of the 2020 kilometre distance completed by the half way point of the challenge.
The 2020 miles is still looking to be a REAL challenge - we still have 60% to go. Never say never.
Log your distances here, let's see if we can do this - we believe in you!!!
Do post and comment below when you get chance, letting us know how far you have run or walked today (Saturday 26th) plus anything from earlier in the week that hasn't been logged yet.

First post here, and now that I've realized that not everyone here is doing two-digit runs all the time I don't feel so bad offering: 7k on Monday, a 2.5k speed session on the 23rd and 8k today, plus a 4.5k walk yesterday. 22k all in all, but to say that's 2020 without the noughts would probably be stretching things a bit ππ
We'd all be in trouble if we were doing that blue-notes, our short runs are very important!!! As David.G says, there's absolutely no judgement in this forum, just oodles of support just like our sister forums. I'll add all those lovely kilometres to our board, thank you π
That will be less pathetic than the zero kms I'm likely to contribute today (but shh, don't tell anyone π). So long as the dog is happy, you're all good!
Morning, I've got a 5k walk from yesterday. Calves still tight and a little sore from an uphill run Thursday so will do my weekend run tomorrow and let you know later how far I walk today πΆββοΈ
Lovely thanks. Lots of stretching and rolling will help those calves π I concentrated on my hip so much after yesterday's short run that I completely forgot to stretch my calves. It was less than 3k but I could still feel them this morning!!!
Defo stretching out and using the roller again this evening ta 7.2k blustery walk to add this afternoon, was lovely...it certainly blew the cobwebs away π
Hi Linda and other running friends, I hope everyone had as good a Christmas as they could in these difficult timesππ§βππ
I ran another 14km by the seaside this morning. Lots of dog walkers and fellow runners but strangely no cyclists at all. Thatβs very strange, especially along the promenadeπ³
It is the upper outside of the Gastrocnemius; higher up than the calf problem I had treatment for, a couple of weeks ago. I didnβt limp home this time and a massage with the roller ball Santa brought me has resolved most of the tenderness already; so could be improving. If I need treatment, as opposed to sports massage, I will be able to get an appointment. I just want to get back to running 90/100k per month!
Another 12.42 km this time a boxing day walk up Sweetie Hill with a picnic at the top. 1000ft elevation gain, storm Bella blowing a hoolie but not much rain
Actually, I'm being delusional there. We've been in tier 4 for a week now π. Don't worry - I know the rules, just not very good with numbers. Which maybe doesn't bode too well for this challenge ...
So glad I got out when I did - I was just gazing out the window thinking how dark it is ... not to mention cold and wet! I'm definitely not going out for a walk this afternoon!
Hi Linda, we both managed another 8.1km walk today just before the rain started. Very impressed with Boss Jr's efforts all this week no complaints yet, he seems to be loving the walking as oppose to the running he has been doing. May it continue into the New Year xxx
Feeling a little sluggish today, so went out for a walk after the obligatory turkey sandwich. Took the long way to the Co-op, as I had miscalculated my double cream requirement and we were at serious risk of having an incomplete trifle. Anyway, it blew the cobwebs away and please take another 3.61k for the pot
Please add 3.30k to the spreadsheet sorry my afternoon walk disappeared when my new beautiful earphones decided to go into conflict with Fitbit! All is well now and ready for my next walk and run ππ»ββοΈ
6.12 km run....not as far as I planned but everyone else was relaxing by the fire before work this evening so I found it very hard to get going π€ but I did say I would π fantastic motivational skills HU team and linda9389 ππ
8.88 km run this morning. Very cold but sunny and a very hilly route. Brandy snaps and fudge cake with the coffee afterwards courtesy of one of the group - and I thought I was burning off some of the calories from the last two days! Adding to them instead. π°π°
Also did 3.32 km walk yesterday to work up an appetite for breakfast.
Nothing relates to 2020 but perhaps my weekly total might do?!!
Ok thanks. Iβm doing lots of rolling and I keep finding tight spots so Iβm hoping thatβs maybe what it is. I havenβt had a massage for months so will try to book one for the New Year. Weβre Tier 2 so Iβm hoping physios will be open π€
We're now in tier 4. Our physios are open, but I imagine my sports massage therapist will be closed again. They are lumped in with the beauty salon sector as far as the Government are concerned!
Hi LindaI suddenly realised I should be helping with this as I have ran/walked most of these days. I'll write them all here...If that's wrong, let me know and I'll write them separately on each post.
21st 4.23km
22nd 3.86km
24th 5.35km
25th 11.40km
26th 3.93km
Good luck with the challenge and I'll continue to log distance on the next few days...
A friend suggested i join in. So i have entered my figures for21st, 22nd and 24th on the relevant posts (as listed above) also ran another 5.05km today but canβt see where to put it. Sorry not very savvy with this website.
No worries! I've found them all. You can comment on any of the posts I've written - add the date in the comment and I'll get it in the right place π
