Hi there wonderful runners and walkers, every one of you, we need you !!!
Join this year’s final challenge NOW to say goodbye, good riddance, be gone, GO 2020!!!
⭐ This challenge is for everyone
⭐ Starting today
⭐ All of your kilometres
⭐ In these last 10 days of the year
⭐ Whether walking or running
⭐ They will all count!
Here’s a recap of the details for those who haven’t already seen them (or those with memories as bad as mine):
This is a DISTANCE challenge, with both an individual element and a community element. We’ll count runs and walks.
★ Individual element of this challenge
How many ways can you ‘run/walk 2020’?
Some ideas to get you started :
◾ run or walk 20.20miles or 20.20km or 20minutes 20seconds …
◾ run or walk an elevation of 202.0m ...
◾ find and photo two houses numbered 20 ...
◾ write 2020 as Strava/GPS art …
Take photos and post them to the forum for inspiration (you will need to write your own post to show us your pics). How creative can you get? Who can come up with the most different ways to achieve ‘2020’?
★ Community element of this challenge
From 21st to 31st December (inclusive) please help us reach our combined 2020 kilometres target. Long runs are great, but the short ones and the walks will all add up too!
(If there are enough of us taking part, could we make 2020 miles? 🤔)
★ Admin points
I’ll put up a new post each day of the challenge.
Record your daily distance in the comments of each day's post - in kilometres please.
I will tally them as we go and give you the latest running total at the start of each day.
It doesn’t really matter which day your distance was achieved/posted so long as it is run and recorded within the challenge dates of 21st to 31st inclusive, and is only submitted once!!! If you prefer to wait until the end of the challenge and submit just one total, that’s fine too, but daily totals will let us know just how close we are to smashing the target distance.
Let’s see this unbelievable year off! Strong!!!
Time to GO 2020.
Good luck everyone. We can do this!!!
I’ll be back tomorrow with our first set of totals.

My fault cc. I did a nice 9k on Saturday; breathing was great, heart rate back under control but I felt a bit of a twinge towards the end. Felt great today but I think that I upped the pace and my calf wasn’t ready; so it let me know 🤷🏻♂️ Operator error!! 👍
Well done! Not such good news about the calf. These things can be way too stubborn. I'm going to have to stick with walking my k's I think. But every little definitely helps!
It was the seventh run since my comeback, so I thought that running the second 1k a bit quicker might be ok! Clearly not!!I should have rested it a bit longer after a slow 9k on Saturday. Couple of days and I will start again; slowly ........
I ran 10k this morning to kick off my contribution. Weather was shocking, footing was shocking, time was therefore shocking - but hey I have a job to do - to clock up some distance! Let’s see off 2020 in style guys! 😠 ➡️ 👋
10.10k ran this morning very damp & very windy, first time I’ve ever done 10k on a Monday. I’ll run 10.10k on Wednesday so that I’ll have done a personal target of running 2, 10k + in one week as week as being in Christmas week. I will look for some 20 20 art I had forgotten that bit on the next run 🏃🏻♀️
5.05k for me today Linda - was meant to be 10.10 but just wasn’t on it ☹️ Though I don’t think I would have been able to do much more than walk into the wind on the prom for the second half, even on a good day. Stopped my watch before the walk home so can’t count that either - not a good day really, but every little helps!
Definitely every bit helps - we just need to make sure there are a lot of us!!! Well done for getting out there. It was miserable today here too ... and a couple more days the same 😢
On Monday morning I went a 4.82 walk around the loch in Scotland that I RAN run 3 of week 5 of C25K in May 2018, I can assure you that I did sleep better there on Sunday night than I did back in 2018, like most runners who are about to run that milestone run, I felt very nervous but I did complete the run without walking or stopping, according to my old Smartphone, looking back I ran it in a pace of 08:40/Km, Monday's walk brought memories back to me.
Usually over on C25k and the Bridge...tempted here by roseabi after the speed challenge...so...
...today was the short run on JuJu’s Magic Plan for 20 minutes...I should have stopped running at 20:20...drat! With warm up and cool down I covered 3.32km. Back on my Lockdown main road...it was windy...and it rained...
I'd love to join this Linda. I ran my longest run ever on Sunday (9.5k) so that won't count, and am needing a bit of a rest for a few days, but hoping to smash a 10k before the end of the year - so will be posting that when/if it happens! I'll also add my shorter runs/walks too when I eventually manage to get out.
I've added you to the board so just let us know whenever you've run or walked. Congratulations on the 9.5k, you will absolutely smash 10k this year - way to end on a high!!!
Hi Linda. I hope you manage to keep up with all these posts. 😧 Talking of which, I would like to add 5.8km after my interval session with my brother today. 😅
Oh hi, so good to hear from you as you really were the idea behind all this! I was going to give an extra shout out to you on 30th (and still will!) and encourage people to buddy up to run their own 20.20km relay on 31st as you originally suggested. Thanks again for inspiring us - I think a lot of people are enjoying the challenge 👍😊
Thanks!!!! I haven't heard anything from the group for a long time and have been busy with restrictions etc. here in Spain and trying to celebrate Christmas with family and friends as normally as possible. My yearly goal in 2019 was 1000k and despite lockdown of 1,5 months this year, I caught up with a very long streak of 5k a day and will meet my objective of 1111k on Thursday. Sorry it won't be 20,20k in the last 10 days of the year in the end. At least, I have had fun with virtual races and a week ago ran my first real run since February in the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, where everyone who had their Jean Bouin run cancelled in November could run a mile in controlled groups of 50 setting off in groups of 3 every 3 seconds. It was great fun! Hope all is well with you guys in the UK as it sounds much worse than here at the moment. All the best and happy running!!!
You have done a great job of making the most of 2020 - that's all any of us can do! The real race sounds fab! It's not great here just now, but hopefully there are brighter days not too far away now. In the meantime, we continue to make the best of it 😊
