Took a tumble

That wasn't in the plan. Having mastered slippery paths over the last week or so with no mishaps I tripped on a tree root today and went splat on my front, very undignified and a bit of a shock. Had been aiming to run 8 miles and the fall came at just after 10k, got up and checked 1) nobody had seen me 2) nothing was broken and 3) there was no blood. Told myself I'd go to 7 miles then turn off to sulk home but when I stopped, and checked again for blood, I thought no, you can keep going so after a few yards I set off again and ran to 13k. A year ago I would have cried and sworn off running for weeks but it seems I am now a nutty runner. Had a large G&T and a chocolate mousse to console myself this evening but planning a shorter "get back on it" run tomorrow, albeit I know i will surely have a black eye .

Oh no, owww! It's such shock isn't it. Well done for keeping going today - and for treating yourself too 👍The bruises will fade, as will the memory but feeling over cautious for a while would be perfectly natural. I bit the dust - literally- on a canal towpath; I was nervous for a while after that, but not for long. Take care 😊

Thank you, at least we're in lockdown and I don't have to go on to work with a shiner 🤕

Sorry about your fall but it doesn't seem to be too bad as you continued with your running, well done on completing it.

Thank you and the eye doesn't seem too bad this morning, just a bit grazed rather than black and blue

That’s ur first thing I do when I fall too - check if anyone saw 🤣 I have pavement fear now.

Ha ha .. I'm glad I fell on a mud path rather than pavement but pavements are generally not littered with tree stumps to trip on. So I shall be sticking to the paths and roads for a few runs now.

Pavements near me are lethal: crooked paving slabs all over. I often go onto the road - it’s safer 🤦🏽‍♀️ Yes, tree roots are sneaky little things 🤣

Yes thank you, just off now for a gentle 5k rather than dwelling on the fall.

I'm glad you're okay and nothing was broken/ bleeding. That was the first thing I did when I had my one and only fall was to look and see if anyone seen me. Only I had nothing to trip over🤣
