Fell over quite spectacularly into mud during my long run this morning!

So there I was, running along quite happily this morning on a new route, (it was still dusk) about halfway into my 8.04K (5 miles) long run and I had to cross a busyish junction. I started to cross the road and a car was coming towards me so I ran a bit faster to the other side expecting it to just be a normal path but it was just muddy grass! I had no choice but to go across because of the oncoming cars but in my rush, I slipped and fell onto the mud and grass! I got up pretty much straight away and carried on with my run, I am so glad that it was just muddy grass and not concrete, otherwise I would have hurt myself. Thankfully, I didn't hurt myself and I actually found it quite funny, I ran off laughing to myself. Note to self: find a safer place to cross that busy road or avoid busy roads all together!

Oh and remind me never to jump off a 5"6 stage the day before my long run and when you have a race on Sunday again...

Eek! Glad you're OK 😊😊😊

What have you been up to? Crowdsurfing again?? 😄

Hahaha, no I was stage managing and decided to get off the stage by jumping down off it instead of taking the stairs. Stupid idea really, I need to look after my running body! 😃

As Spike Milligan said, good job the ground was there to break your fall! I had a double fall into mud up on the moors recently; you just get up and get on with it, as indeed you did, always remembering to cover up the car seat if running from a car park! Sounds like a good run, and really impressed with your box jump height👏👏👏🐇

Yes very true! Although I probably should have just taken the stairs off the stage! 😃

Oh no! On both counts. Lucky indeed it was only grass. And wowsers. 5’6” is a long way to jump! Hope you don’t have any twinges. 🤞

A couple of lessons learned there RC! 😅

Yes glad it was only grass! My right knee actually did buckle below me when I landed so should have been more careful! My knees are feeling okay though today, just a bit achey from my long run today. Yes lesson learnt and won't be doing any stunts like that again! 😃

We all fall over at some point. Fortunately yours was a soft landing 😃

Take care, do 🙄

😁😁😁🏃‍♀️

Yes, I have had much harder falls before so was glad that today's was a softer landing even though it did mean getting mud all over my brand new leggings I got only 5 days ago for my birthday!

Thanks, yes my day did get better thanks, been playing cello all day so that was fun! My race is just a 5K dorothy house Santa fun run thing, so should be good! 😃

Oh wow! At least it was soft mud and grass. 🙂Earlier this week I slipped on our icy porch stairs and took a full-on cartoon header. Very lucky to only have some strained muscles and not cracked my head on the concrete. You have to be so careful.

Ooops! Into the Falling Over season for sure. 😨 Glad you don’t seem to have done much damage. Well done on finding the squidgy landing mat. 🤣 No need to repeat the performance, however, especially with a race coming up. 👏🏼👍😄

Hahaha yes very true! I think it's safe to say that I'll be thinking twice before needlessly putting my body under strain (I could have just taken the stairs!) which could effect my running! 😃

Oh RC, really glad you didn't injure yourself 😬, you were lucky!

Good to see the funny side 😅...hope there's no aches and pains as payback tomorrow!

Enjoy your race Sunday 👍
