The rain this morning could only be described as biblical, I nearly tried getting a number for a man called Noah ๐คญ it was bouncing down ๐ง๏ธ๐ง๏ธ๐ง๏ธ๐ง๏ธ๐ง๏ธ.
Husband taxi delivered Mrs Wife to the NHS establishment, darted home, created school sandwiches for hungry teenagers, and ahhhhhhh 7.45 the house is all silent ๐คซ.
I sourced my running attire, slight faffing over would a Jacket be too much ๐, the jacket stayed at home, overheating isn't nice, oh yes more faffage trainer choice for some reason the brooks cascadia were a winning choice, the towpath is trail like in parts and the mud can get quite gloopy.. not knowing how far the legs wanted to run, I shoved a gel in my pocket, just in case ......
A bonus of iffy weather is my aqueduct route is visitor free ๐ it's impossible to run across and try to distance yourself so I've been avoiding it of late. You can tell we've had rain by the noise of the river below the aqueduct, it's a definitely roar, but this just adds to the atmosphere of the run the views well they could easily consume you. A definite bucket list for any runners visiting the area.
I only saw one dog walker for ages, a cheerful morning greeting and we went our separate ways. There was a steady queue of boat traffic that had probably departed the marina in Llangollen..... GRUMBLE ALERT ๐คฌ as anyone knows towpaths they aren't the widest... And when walkers are standing slap bang centre, it can get a tad tricky to pass safely, even more infuriating is when they just refuse to stand aside, garmin heart rate at overload grrrrrr. Don't even start me on dog mess ๐ค๐ ๐ก๐คฌ.
Back to running, the sounds today were definitely part of my run, from the satisfying crunch of the new gravel path, that was replaced by the random splashing of the puddles, but today's strange noise definitely running over a carpet of acorns, acoustically weird and at times even slippy. Leaving llangollen behind and heading back towards home, I'm sure it's too early for conkers but apparently not they're everywhere ๐ง.
Conker fact tried and tested, get yourself some nice ones and dot them around the skirting boards and you should banish those kinda large house spiders ๐ท๏ธ๐ธ๏ธ that wander in at this time of year.
My Wednesday run definitely felt Autumnal, and with that in mind, I'm pointing myself towards home to throw a cottage pie together ready for the returning hungry teenagers.....
Enjoy your running folks stay safe out there and go nail that run
