I have really been enjoying running ever since I began last November. I never thought then that I'd be regularly running for enjoyment 10 months later. I looked last night on my Strava and discovered that from March 22nd (my first 10 miles) to Sept 22nd I have completed longer runs of:
10m x 5
HM x 6
15m x 1
17m x1
20m x 1
M x1
I just wanted to say that this in itself is just the result of going out, keeping consistent and really enjoying it. I haven't experienced yet the feeling of not wanting to run and my 3 or 4 times a week have been part of me and who I am now. Love running, love the forum and love learning tips and tricks along the way. Sometimes we go through ups and downs running and I'm really enjoying this spell. I've developed a liking for longer runs too as the weeks have passed. I don't really run fast or get many PB's but I just like the all round sense of well-being running brings.
I deleted this post loads because I didn't want it to be 'look at me' but rather if you keep at it and stay positive you can do some things you thought were out of reach or looked hard to overcome. I look forward to how other people have done and reading the forums is something really positive for me. It's an inner strength I carry with me each run.
That’s a great post! Your joy of running shines through every post and you are a big inspiration for so many with your positivity and generous support. Keep at it 🙂
My current summit is HM which I’ve done twice so far, and the only way I’d contemplate running a FM is London. There aren’t enough hours in the day! 🤣🤣
Sooooooo glad you didn’t delete your post Hidden ! You have achieved so very much in your short time running. Absolutely mind blowing in fact - just wow! 👏👏👏
Keep going and keep posting as you’re exactly the sort of runner that keeps the rest of us mortals running. Brilliant! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
You’re a great contributor. I like to post mainly on here and comment on here and B210K, and I read the posts on C25K. Thing is, I write such long posts and replies, I can’t possibly comment on all posts, although I’d love to! It’s a fantastic community. ❤️
Great positive post GTFC. Just to let you know its posts like this that keep us all going and who ever thought when starting c25k you could run these distances and learn to love running. Keep going and enjoy😊😊👍👍
Loved reading this, it's great to see the impact becoming a runner has had on you, and your acheivements are fab!
Enthusiasm is infectious (in a good way) it reminds us how we all feel ourselves.
I agree the support on these forums is as Tbae has said the magic thread that holds us all together. So glad we have this space and the lovely runners who share it!
From not running at all to a marathon in a year is such a huge achievement! I love the positivity that radiates from all your posts and comments it has certainly kept me going at times 😄you deserve to celebrate you for a change as you’re so good at building up others and celebrating their achievements with them 👏🏻☺️
You've reached such phenomenal distances in such a short space of time GTFC, you really are an inspiration. And always so supportive and positive, it really does help on those days when you lack the motivation to get out of the door.
What have you got planned for your 1st runniversary?!?! 🤔😁💪🏃♂️🏃♂️
Thank you so much. You are always so kind. I nearly saved this post for then. I think after my Marathon number 2 on the 4th October I will have a month of running purely by feel. I will only look at my watch at the end of each run. I don't really set targets or goals but go more on feel. Enjoyment is everything. I never have to motivate myself to go or lose my enthusiasm. I hope to stay injury free too 😊
Ah that’s brilliant and I’m very happy to see all of the amazing runs you do 🤩🤩. You’re definitely not a ‘look at me’ sort of person. Sharing always helps others and you do that so well.
You should be so proud of your achievements and I’m proud to have such a talented and supportive VRB!! 🤗❤️
Well done 😃👍. It’s wonderful that you’re enjoying your running. it does spill over into the rest of your life in a good way. You’re fitter for one thing 💪
Well I'm so glad you did post GTFC! You have achieved so much in your running over the last few months and this is definately a place you can celebrate that!💪🎉🏃🏻 I agree, that so many of the posts across the three running forums are inspiring and like you, they help keep me motivated some days too!
Looking forward to seeing what plans you have next for your runnning - and many thanks for all the support you show for others here. 😀🙂
Lovely post! So encouraging. Your ‘chuff-ness’ with your progress is so lovely to read. You come across as having a really humble heart and I always love reading your posts. Keep it up!
Brilliant GTFC! The joy running brings you is evident in every post of yours. I’m sure it’s helped fuel your amazing progress and inspire so many people along the way.
Excellent post from you GTFC and an amazing amount of running you have ran in those wonderful 10 months, that's over 200 miles/321Kilometers for the likeing of runners who run in K's, congratulations on all of those runs.
Amazing achievements GTFC - what is also noticeable, and appreciated, is how supportive you are of others on the forum. You are the epitome of what is so good about the forum and why many of us use it for inspiration, motivation and support. Thank you
Great post GTFC. 👍 You have inspired many on here and your positivity shines through all your posts. I love reading about the progress of people on here and especially when they overcome setbacks. I also love how fast or far peeps have gone on their own running journeys and I think it’s ok to give yourself a shout out here when you’ve achieved something you’re proud of.
I expect you’ll receive a call up to the admin team soon. 👍😀
Thank you so much! I always think 'The comeback is greater than the setback' and so we can be on the journey back from injury or maintaining our running and therefore always have something to look forward to 😊
Totally agree. In January I injured my back and was out of action for a good while and got really down about not being able to run and even absented myself from the forum for a while too . It still hurts and twinges everyday but I was determined to get back to it and didn’t stay away too long and with the wonderful support I received from peeps on here I made it back and I’m improving every run.
It's obvious in every post and response how much you are enjoying the journey...it may have taken you 40 odd years to realise it but running is clearly in your blood! 🏃♂️😊👌
Gosh, thank you! You are so right. I had no interest at all until a colleague suggested we run the Hull Marathon as a team. I was down for the 5 mile leg. Now I can run it on my own and that really is mind blowing for me. 10k used to seem so out of reach. Really appreciate your comments. Thank you 😊
I have an idea GTFC- I think you would be an ideal candidate to be featured in runners world- all your ups and downs culminating in your marathon and love of running. Why don’t you contact them? You are such an inspiration on here but imagine how many more people you could inspire!! X
Gosh, that is such a really lovely thing to say. I really appreciate your comments. I'm honestly just someone who kept consistent and then as I went a little further I enjoyed it a little more. What's remarkable is that it's unremarkable 😊😊😊 I am a very shy person so this forum really allows me to be me.
