Hi there, today I ran in the virtual GNR, and completed my first ever half marathon in just under 2.5 hours. This was a huge challenge for me, only having started on the C25K as a New Year’s resolution, and I am pleased also to have raised nearly £1000 for a brilliant hospice charity.
Please could I get my Half Marathon badge?
Thanks

What an absolutely wonderful achievement 👏👏👏👏👏
Congratulations on a real milestone run and in such an excellent time. Absolutely superb to raise the money too for a great cause. I hope you feel really proud 🎽🥇
Thank you! I am proud... I wouldn’t have done this but for a friend who had it on her bucket list. When she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in May she set herself a goal to run an HM within 6 months and I pledged to do it with her. Sadly she is too unwell to run now so my Half Marathon is 100% dedicated to her.
What a great achievement, congratulations on running your first Half Marathon, tell the administrators that you have ran your first HM, then you will see the words Half Marathon next to your username 😊 🏃🏾 🎓
Yes it is a bit hilly - I added the first 8k on to my regular routes so although it looks a bit complicated it was all very familiar. I enjoyed the uphill run in the first 5K - it’s a shady route up there which was very welcome in the heat, and good to get that long uphill stretch out of the way early on. It’s a 10k loop I will certainly do again, not least because the second 5k is all downhill!
Well done Outdoorsy19, that’s a fantastic achievement!🙂👏👏 You should be very proud of yourself, and well done too for raising money for such a worthy cause😀👍
Congratulations on a huge achievement - the distance and the fundraising! It must have been a very emotional run too, which will have made it all the more tiring. Very well done!!!
Solo running is certainly a mental challenge, but I have trained solo since starting C25K in Jan this year, and throughout lockdown - now I prefer running on my own! However, my friend had called me just before the start and I knew she was with me every step of the way! Afterwards, we met up for a well earned bottle of fizz!
Thank you, that’s really lovely. It’s only just sinking in quite what an achievement it has been, especially as I only started running in Jan this year as part of rehab from a knee injury in April 2019. I actually think that without lockdown I would never have achieved this, so some good things have come out of a bad situation!
