HUHM 10K race report

Went straight out this morning for my 10K virtual race. As today was a 14K in the plan, I decided to do 2K warm up jog, a faster middle 10K and then a 2K jog home.

I used jeffing for my long runs on my last Garmin coach plan and generally I’m a fair bit faster this way whilst feeling less like I might keel over, so I decided to do that today. I was on a new route, using Komoot to navigate, took a few wrong turnings (Komoot and I have different ideas about what turn left in 50m means!) Overall an enjoyable run along part of the old Erewash canal, and another successful gel experience- rhubarb and custard this week!

There is a slight disagreement between Garmin and strava about my 10K time, but I think doing some quick adding up it’s because Strava has just used the first 10K and Garmin has used the fastest. Which would give me a new 10K PB of 1:03:35 🤩🥳🥇

Well done you! That is a really super time. Love the way you wrapped this within your run. You'll feel super chuffed now !!

Wow, what a fantastic run! Congratulations on your 10k PB 👏👏👏.

As time has gone by I have got better at knowing what Komoot really means, but I definitely find it helps if I have the simple map displayed on my watch using the Garmin DwMap app as well!

Thanks! ☺️☺️ I searched for dwmap, it doesn’t look like it works for the forerunner 45? So I might just have to get used to Komoot or keep my phone in a more accessible place on my belt!

Oh really? Can you use the courses facility on the 45? If so, I think you could do the same thing but download the GPX file as a new course (using Garmin connect on your pc)

No courses is not a feature on the 45, it only starts at the 245. When I bought my Garmin I never dreamed I’d be venturing far enough in a run I’d need navigation 🤪 perhaps an excuse for an upgrade in the future 😁

Ahh, that's a shame. I have the 235 so can't use courses, but at least I can use dwMap! I would dearly love a proper map on my watch but that seems to be be limited to the real top of the range watches sadly.
