It was an early one. Hot and humid yet again. Broken sleep last night (our dog is really not coping with the heat) but I was still awake before the 6am alarm. Straight out of bed to the kit all laid out the night before ... so how was it 6.55am when I started my run? Hey ho!
Quick warm up then a run of my normal 'round the block' 5k as no time to travel somewhere nice. Brain wasn't working so I wasn't sure of the pace required to PB, so ignored the watch and ran by feel. And it felt hard. And it felt fast. And I sweated a lot!
And then it was over, in my head the crowds were cheering π It was time for the moment of truth: '1 record' says my watch ... oh yay I thought! ... fastest mile says watch π€ ... oh, ahh well, no 5k PB today then.
(But fastest mile must mean I put some effort in π)
Well done to those who've already completed their v5k and good luck to those still to run it.

Well done Linda, any kind of PB in this heat is impressive ππββοΈ
If you're concerned that your brain wasn't working, spare a thought for me...I read it as 'Brian wasn't working' and thought, who's Brian, must be Linda's husband π, it's too hot π
Haha. Just checked - I'm hopeless for typos! I sent a message to my son the other day saying thanks - only somehow 'David' appeared at the end (not his name!). He replied 'no problem Betty!' So we can probably find a Brian somewhere πππ
5k and a fastest mile. Sounds good to me. I trotted around tonight and it was worse than Tuesday. Just no air!!! Where did all the air go???? Trying to not care about my stats and thank god it doesnβt record sweatiness... but then again Iβd get a PB for that tonight.
Wooo! Well done linda9389 , impressive to get a 1 mile PB when running through treacle like itβs been this week. I donβt think it would have been any cooler if youβd run at 3am, so that was fantastic! πππ
Well done on getting out so early, Iβm really bad at getting up for early runs so feel your pain! Amazing to get a 1 mile PB in those conditions π₯
Itβs so frustrating when your body tells you that youβve worked to your max and 'it must be a good one' and your watch then has the audacity to disagree. π‘ A big cheer from me for running in the heat and a PB for your fastest mile. ππββοΈπ
Watch could be wrong I guess? It bumped my HR to match my cadence half way thru (which it does far too often) so maybe it can't tell the time either - good point !!!
I'm good thanks, and the dog looks to be improving now too (though I did wonder if she'd make it thru the storm last night, definitely not her thing!!!).
Yeh, it is isn't it! Importantly though, I have to get used to the idea that I can't PR every time just because I feel like I tried hard, that's not realistic - whether it's hot or not π π
