Got round a 31k trot for my week 3 of Floss’s Blooming June Quest following a week1,10k and week2,20k.
I have loved taking part in the Quest and it has pushed me onto my longest distance and another step nearer to tackling that magic marathon distance.
What did I learn from this toughie which I think I will
apply to future attempts.
Don’t go if you are tired, stay away from hills unless you have put the training in,don’t get ahead of yourself, stay with one foot in front of the other,1234.
I am pleased to get round but I wanted to be in so much more control.
At 4:49 was not really thinking straight, knew my route and the first 10k I was in control, got to the half way point and trotting along quite happily and started to think about the third 10k at the 20k point.Began to make heavier work of lesser hills than the initial 10k section. No 123dance,I don’t use playlists/earphones, phone in armband recording Strava run.Start & stop is the only contact I have with it.No pics either too fiddly.🙈
I knew my Apple Watch was going to die and it did at 28k.🙈I used the activity programme on it.Very useful to know how your going along. Then nothing, ran blind home and made sure I was going to log 30k, hence the 31k.
Excuse my lack of elation but I am a senior novice trotter who has learnt much today. For me it has to be smooth,it has to be enjoyment,I have to be in control,no wheels coming off.
I know now I am no where near ready for my Marathon but one day it’s going to happen.
I have to laugh, a young man passed me today presumably going to his work around 0600 up at Holyhead mountain,he was walking.🙈🤔Think I did well to brave that insult and keep trotting along.🤔🤪
Keep on keeping on.
