And now for something completely unrelated to running. Hello, this post is for Dexy5 for the Cinnamon Bun recipe Mrs D used for our last few batches. They were outstanding and guaranteed to make you want to run more given their ridiculous calorie count - I can only imagine what it is.
She used the recipe posted here, but she does not include the raisins they call for - which are optional in any event:
No worries and I hope they turn out well for you Dexy. Yes probably a good call on leaving it until you are running again. This recipe also makes quite a large batch from what I remember. Around 30 buns in all.
How funny to open HU and find this. I'm making cinnamon rolls right now. After all, they're the go-to option here in Scandinavia - but without the raisins. Scandinavians don't ice them either. However, several years ago I started icing some of my rolls. It means you have to run a few extra kilometers, though.
The differences are interesting. I'm surprised not to see milk in the recipe. We don't have shortening over here, so the discussion tends to be butter vs. margarine. I always go for butter. It looks like I'll have to test the recipe next time and see how it compares!
One tip for the rest of you - if you put the rolls in the freezer pretty quickly after making them, they keep really well and taste good when you defrost them.
That is an odd coincidence! Yes Mrs D made one batch with and without the icing. I prefer the icing version but it is much richer as a result. An extra few km are needed as you say π.
Yes she used butter also. Shortening only ever goes into pie crusts from what I gather. Thanks for the freezer tip too! This recipe makes 30 buns so you may have to freeze some. Weβve just been giving the extras to friends and my folks.
No no no no!!!! Too much temptation! They look absolutely delicious and I really love cinnamon! I would love to make them but just looking at the picture is adding the pounds! Iβll see what Boris says about going out more tomorrow π€ and if he says we can go out to exercise more I might just have to make these πππ
