City running app

Just reading the April copy of the Connexion, which is a monthly English language newspaper of french news and there is an article about Runnin’City, an app which gives you a variety of audio guided runs in cities from Adelaide to Zurich (35 routes in London). It apparently tells you about the history, landmarks etc and records your stats. Looks good and appears to be free - at least free to download and I can’t see any mention of later charges 😃

Sounds cool!

It does sound cool, although my ears only have room for hearing aids! I'll just mention quietly here that I slipped in a 1:03:33 tonight, so I am making a little progress. Feels a bit beside the point with everything going on though. 🤔

Great stuff Beachcomber66 . Definitely not beside the point! Need to take any positives we can 😃

Sandie1961 and I have set out to make a sub 60 min 10k sometime soonish, so this was a new PB on the way. I am probably just knackered from the run. Just a difficult time for all.

Well done BC - one step nearer!👍

Thanks Jonathan. I suspect each minute’s improvement will get a bit harder to achieve from now on, but no rush. Having an additional day off!! Hope you are coping ok. 👍

Sounds interesting - looking forward to being able to travel again someday. I have often found good running routes in new places by looking at routes people have used on MapymyRun. Hope you are keeping well

Just starting to get fed up of being so restricted!

That looks interesting. I use another site onthegomap.com/ to determine route distances before I try them out. I find it really handy and a bit simpler than some of the other fancier ones out there.

I’ve never tried a guided run, but I’m starting to look for variety, like the vast majority of us. It would be fun hearing about all the landmarks of Adelaide whilst bimbling around my local common!

Oh, and sneaky Beachcomber66 ! Well done, that’s a great time. I’m enjoying your joint PB journey ....... 🏃‍♀️ 🏃

I suppose you could imagine you are running somewhere else but I think it uses GPS and tells you about what you are running past 😂. Can’t wait to be able to go somewhere to try it out!

Ohhh, sorry I assumed it was a virtual run kind of thing - you can tell I’ve never used a guided run app before! 🤦‍♀️

😂 Have a look - there are 3 circular runs in Bristol. A 3.9k Discover Bristol run, 9.7k Centre to Clifton and 13.9k Spike Island. For when we’re allowed out again, of course x

The Spike Island one is most probably a large part of my HM route the other day. The centre to Clifton is literally all uphill! 😳😳😳😅

Mmm I did notice that the elevation gain is somewhat brutal! I remember Constitution Hill from visiting Ryan 😖

I used to walk up and down Constitution Hill in my office high heels back in the 80’s! It wasn’t “cool” to wear comfy shoes to walk to and from work! 🙄🙄
