My t-shirt arrived just after the email cancelling the VRWC but I decided to wear it and go for a run anyway. I had intended doing 10k for our semi finals, but it was cold with a bitterly cold wind, so I decided to try to do a sub 30 5k for the first time on a solo run. I’ve only ever done it at parkrun so far. Anyway, I set off just after Mr S set off with Ben for his morning walk due to faffage with music, Strava etc and nearly frightened the life out of him by shouting “runner coming through” as he was approaching the bridge over the beck 😂😂 I then overtook him again about 150m from home. 5k in a slightly shorter time than it took him to do 3k - I’ll take that! Missed a sub 30 though - 30:21. Drat! Close though! Enjoy your first run of the summertime if you are going out today xx
PS Don’t know why photos sometimes turn 90 degrees 🤔

I haven't checked today, but the system still seems to be collecting our runs. If there is no point (such as the the vaccination "sponsorship" not being continued) I guess that I should break the link.
I think that Imc50 is right...I often have to reorientate photos before posting them. More fun to leave it though!! Upside down ones from our friends from the bottom of the world would work!
I am trying to build up pace again too. A sub 60 10k starts with a few sub 30 5k runs I suspect. You mentioned that as a new challenge. I am up for it 😊
Ok, just to set a baseline to measure improvement, (may have to seek age related weighted adjustment of target 😊) I am starting from 28:17 5k and 1:05:20 10k. You are somewhat quicker I know, but overall objective is just to do the right things to speed up and see where that takes us? I am planning a 10k tomorrow, but I think as a strength/stamina builder rather than speed effort. Can't be risking IC without any Physios to fall back on. I do like a target though, so thanks. Anyone else wanting to join in is welcome of course. 🏃♀️.................🏃
Ouch that 10k is quick Sandie. You are not far off. Maybe need to finish my interrupted Pilates today! Still, I seem to have fixed the central heating using nothing but a hairdryer 🤞🤞🤞
The whole of one RCD circuit blew last night. Heating, television, fridge, freezer washing machine etc etc all out and the fuse refused to reset. Process of elimination led to the central heating system as the likely culprit. It looked as though a motorised valve could have got a drop of water in it from a slight drip from a water valve above(poor design) so I blasted it with a hairdryer to evaporate any water last night and again this afternoon...hey presto all good!Poly bags now in place to hopefully prevent a recurrence! It will do until central heating engineers are back in circulation....sitting with crossed fingers though...I am not a handyman and logic only takes you so far; bit of entertainment though 😊🤞🤞🤞🤞
Not sure they would have come out. We have a standby gas fire and free standing electrical heaters plus immersion heater so not really an emergency; just a nuisance. Had hail here this morning but promised snow didn’t show up.
Nice t-shirt and awesome run Sandie! Shame about the VWRC.
I heard on the radio earlier that one of the politicians was suggesting 60 minutes for a walk or 30 minutes for a run as a guideline. I hope that isn’t true ...... 🤞
Just been reading that Strava recorded a runner in Auckland doing a 30km run and being ticked off by the local rag. Nosey eh? He said he avoided parks and the waterfront and did it in 5k loops from where he lives. Sounds fair to me. Would that work for you TailChaser? 😊
lovely t-shirt - I'll lay down to look at the photo properly
you are very speedy compared to me - I'm on track for a 50 minute 5K at the moment (back from IC) but my best is just under 40 mins so I am in awe of your speed!
Thank you 😊 My first 5k was about 38 minutes, but over time increasing distance and doing leg exercises it has gradually increased. I despaired of ever getting to 30 minutes but eventually it did happen
Lovely photo, nevermind the 90 degrees, I just turned my head, I know that the VRWC has been postponed, however, I notice on the list of runners that the kilometres I have ran increased after that announcement, shortly before it was postponed I had run 40K, I ran a 5k on Saturday AFTER it was postponed then noticed on that list that I had now gone to 45Kilometres ran, that does seem a bit odd.
Thanks Al! I had a look as well after you said that and runs are still being recorded, so perhaps they are continuing with the child vaccination programme
