They say as it is 8 weeks away this is what they are thinking? The day after over 70’s are told to think about social distancing. I know for a fact there are a lot of older runners at this event. By the Way this is for the Hackney Half on May 17th.
Am I missing something? I feel like I am being a bit dense thinking that no way would they even think it would go ahead. Living with someone who has a transplant and on immunosuppression I won’t be going but as I say I am a bit flabbergasted.

I can only think that they had scheduled before the govt update yesterday afternoon to send this! I can't imagine that they will be allowed to continue even if they still intend to nearer the time.
Hiya there 😘 👋. That’s the thing that has surprised me. This morning I checked twitter and their website for a statement and then an hour ago the email came. It is like they didn’t hear any news yesterday. 🤷🏼♀️. We shall see. Are you going to virtual run your HM or just leave it, I am thinking of not doing a VR for mine as I know it lowers my immune system at the best of times, so in my mind that’s it. Take care. Rfc x
I can’t afford to enter an official virtual race 🤨. I’m just going to run it using the Nike app to record it My phone is pants mind you so i have to take a battery pack with me. It’s working well but not tried it on a half marathon
I’m thinking that too, I even got another email that went out to the volunteers two hours later saying exactly the same. When I first saw it I thought, Ahhhhh, they have seen their error, but No. 😂😂😂.
I hope they do, Virgin has just announced that the 02 and indigo venues will close until the end of March so maybe they will announce something but I suspect they will leave it until April. Take care. Rfc xxx
I’m sure it won’t but because the stance they are taking charities are still advertising space for new runners it seems quite counter productive. Rfc x
I kept thinking surely Bath HM would be cancelled last week. But nope! They went ahead. And have gotten plenty of bad press as a result (and haven't immediately opened up ticket sales for next year so maybe they're about to lose the contract!). No doubt Virgin's hand will be forced.
Even before yesterday's announcement I had an email about my cycle ride on May 23rd saying we would have a decision within 72 hours - that could only mean they are cancelling or postponing, as no way could they have been expecting good news over the next three days 😥
I think you are right there might be a bit of a backlash. I have a volunteer role with them in July so that will be interesting to see what happens with that. 🤷🏼♀️ Take care. Rfc xxx
I do think they were caught between a rock and a hard place to be fair; but they didn't handle it well and definitely didn't make peace with the people of Bath!
I think snap decisions before the news yesterday would of been hard one to call but Virgin have 8 weeks and the the country has been told about social distancing but still haven’t made the call. I hope the people of Bath forgive the organisers Rfc x
Theatres and events seem to be saying that everything is cancelled for the next 4 weeks.
They’re obv going to have to stop for longer so maybe it’s to give us an (unrealistic) glimmer of hope , but probably to do with spreading out insurance policy claims.
I think people are working on a monthly basis with announcements, even park run has said cancelled for March but could extend to April. The insurance side of things will be a nightmare I imagine. Rfc x
I have a 1/2 marathon booked on the same date in Norfolk and have heard nothing, not even a notification that it might be cancelled or postponed. TBF it’s being organised by North Norfolk Council and they don’t rush for anything. As they say “ normal for Norfolk “
