Hi...i can't really believe that I'm considering running the wall which is an ultramarathon run done in 26 hrs and is 70 miles....yes you read that right 70 miles long. I really can't get it out of my mind. I have asked advice from friends and they strongly recommend i look for a running buddy to run it with as it makes the miles go faster. I haven't signed up yet for it but strongly considering it.
Any suggestions very welcome.

There are some Ultramarathoners here so hopefully they’ll be around to give you some advice but I guess at the end of the day, only you can make that decision!
Good luck if you decide to go for it and let us know here so we can follow your training 🙂 We love reading about such adventures!
As I don't know the event I googled and gather it's a fully supported and waymarked entry-level ultra, on roads and trails, requiring an average speed of 3mph / 5kph. Plus it seems to be only around 3637 feet / 1108m elevation gain, which isn't much over that distance. So assuming you're running regularly at the moment and if you've got the time and inclination to train, why not?
Hello. I wouldn't want to rely on finding a running buddy for such a long distance, better to be self-sufficient I reckon! You will most probably meet people as you progress through the race, they will give you a boost when you need it.
A few tips I can think of: Get a running vest with loads of pockets; practice carrying and eating food and drink on all your runs; do back to back long runs; get a head torch and do some of your runs in the dark; practice stopping mid long run, sit down for a bit, take off your shoes and change your socks, put your shoes back on and finish the run; get used to running in all weathers; do regular strength training inc. hilly runs.
Lovely to see you roseabi , and such good advice, not that I'd expect anything less from you!
Glad you mentioned not relying on a running buddy. I nearly did, but thought it was probably just me being my usual weird self.
The stop, sit down, change socks and then restart tip is brilliant too. Not that I had to do that, but I did stop, get food, chat, sit down, take photos, reply to a friend's text, and reorganise pack at the second feeding station of the Trail du Gévaudan. I'm so not a racer!
yeah...all great ideas..i guess i'm not really saying what I mean about the buddy....I would hope that it would work in both directions..ie i would help them and they would help me so together we would help each other around. A sort of team effort rather than a reliance.
What I meant was it could be difficult to FIND someone you know who is willing to run that distance. I do not suggest that it would not be mutually supportive , I'm not a monster 😂
