Flat (well...ish...) 2 mile recovery run - really enjoyed it even if it was windy and raining!

So my alarm goes off at 5:30AM again this morning (like it always does when it's run day) but I just couldn't get myself out of bed. So I didn't and went back to sleep. Luckily I had some spare time after work and before my Monday evening commitments so I did a 2 mile recovery run this afternoon, following my 5 mile long run yesterday. Usually, I hate the thought of running in the afternoon or evening (I normally run at the crack of dawn) but today, I was really up for it! I kept an eye on my form and finished the run on a real high! I really enjoyed it and I can't wait for my next run on Wednesday! :-D

Oh and I forgot to mention on my post yesterday, I found that my toe was bleeding again after finishing my long run on Sunday so that's still a bit of a mystery...

Good for you! Glad you were able to get a fun one in after the challenges of the last run. Re: the toe situation, where is the bleeding stemming from? A blister or the nail, or somewhere else? I found very thin run socks or double layer socks seem to help me with most friction feet issues. Could also be the fit of your shoe or related to a narrow toe box area.

Thanks, yes it was great run, I really enjoyed it! Yeah it's definitely not a blister or the nail because I've checked that. I do however have a slight cut on the side of one toe and that's where the bleeding is coming from, but I'm not sure what caused the cut in the first place because it's not a blister or the nail. My running socks are quite thick and my feet do feel a tad constricted in my running shoes so it could be a combination of those two things maybe. But my toe only bleeds after my long runs. I'll think it will be a matter of experimentation to see what works better. I've got thinner running socks so I will try them out on my long run on Sunday and see how that goes. It's a bit of a mystery though...

Sounds good! Didn’t you say you saw a little cut on your toe that could be causing it to bleed? Maybe just put a blister plaster on it and see what happens.

Yeah the bleeding it definitely coming from that cut on the side of my toe. I will admit that I did forget to put a plaster on it before my long run on Sunday, so will definitely do that on my next run and wear thinner socks I think!
