Very first world, but very real.

1. On the most beautiful running morning imaginable, Iโ€™m walking with my dog at Ashton Court, not wearing appropriate gear and feeling insanely envious of all those people running past us. Why on why did I wear my โ€œfashionโ€ leggings (ie theyโ€™d fall down if running) huge down jacket and stupid hiking socks? I was tempted to try anyway, then I thought better of it. Saggy leggings and blisters wouldnโ€™t be good. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

2. EE are doing โ€œplanned maintenanceโ€ on the mast near our house. So no mobile signal until midnight. Excuse me, how am I supposed to do Day 18 of Yoga with Adriene and how am I supposed to keep up with my VRBs? They really didnโ€™t plan that well. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Our main computer would work but thereโ€™s not enough available floor space for yoga. Grump. ๐Ÿ˜

Apart from that, wow what a day. ๐Ÿ˜ I hope youโ€™re all able to get runs in, and I hope my VRBs on the IC are able to get out and enjoy it too.โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ˜€

*Edited to add - just got home and itโ€™s back on! And I got a ยฃ40 credit to my account for the inconvenience! Happier now! ๐Ÿ˜€

๐Ÿ˜‚ hope you can get back to yoga soon. Have you got Nora Batty leggings?

Haha, not when Iโ€™m wearing them normally, but theyโ€™d definitely shift south if I picked up the pace! No one wants to see that! ๐Ÿ˜…

Looks like Iโ€™ll be doing both Day 18 and Day 19 yoga tomorrow then. ๐Ÿ™„

I know how you feel, but first of all you set off for a WALK, not a run with Flossie your dog, I also went a walk (12k) this morning, I saw 4 runners and was a bit tempted to run but like you I had walking boots on and wearing a thick jumper and jacket, so I just kept walking, about a hour after a light lunch I am going to run, run 1 of Ju Ju's Magic 10 plan, I notice that it is a 2.5k OR 15 minute run, so it hopefully won't be too tiring. ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพ

Smart move waiting until youโ€™re wearing the correct attire Al. Thereโ€™s a reason we have running gear! Hope you enjoy this afternoonโ€™s run. I couldnโ€™t run 2.5k in 15 minutes so Iโ€™d probably do distance. Are you doing the timed version of the plan or the distance one? ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrHalf Marathon in reply to cheekychipmunks

I will do distance, I have ran 3K in 18 minutes but had to slow down a bit, 3K in 18 minutes would equate to about 26 minutes 5K, my quickest 5K is 30.55

Sounds perfect. Have a wonderful run Al. ๐Ÿ˜€

Woo hoo. Happy days!

Cold today but no rain. Rejoice ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I walked the dog post run while still in my running gear. Just threw my thick jacket over the top.

I love doing that! The feeling of good fatigue while the dog goes darting around. ๐Ÿ˜€

Lovely photo - such a beautiful day for running today! Mine was cold, sunny and very muddy ... perfect!!๐Ÿ™‚

Itโ€™s almost worth going out for a walk and wearing running gear just in case on a day like today isnโ€™t is? We donโ€™t get many of them this time of year! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

I feel your pain! Runner envy is a horrible thing. Looks like a lovely walk though. I did wonder why your yoga was so late today - now I know ๐Ÿคฃ. ยฃ40 towards some new running (or yoga) gear is a very nice silver lining ๐Ÿ˜

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksHalf Marathon in reply to linda9389

I feel quite bad (no I donโ€™t) about the ยฃ40, as it was back on when I got home! The EE guy said it would be midnight and all I said was โ€œohโ€ - possibly a bit mournfully I suppose. He took pity and said heโ€™d credit me. So .... what shall I get? Possibly go towards some more Brooks Revel 2โ€™s as my first pair are nearing the end of their running life and Iโ€™ll need to start running in my โ€œbestโ€ pair. Iโ€™ll obviously require a new best pair wonโ€™t I? ๐Ÿ˜…

Like you cheeky, having looked at the glorious day, we went for a walk at the โ€œQueen Elizabeth Country Parkโ€ . We found the parkrun route but walked it the wrong way round ๐Ÿคช. My phone ran out of juice when I got there so couldnโ€™t follow Coddfish โ€™s earlier recce report. It has to be said, it was incredibly muddy and my walking boots were all over the place slip sliding away.

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksHalf Marathon in reply to Dexy5

Ooo whatโ€™s it like Dexy? How were the hills? Iโ€™m guessing weโ€™ll be running in mud on February 15th. Iโ€™ll bring Flossie and she can tow me. ๐Ÿ˜€

Mr cheeky said that the towpath was awash with walkers and runners this morning too. I think everyone was out in this lovely weather. โ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy510 Miles in reply to cheekychipmunks

Iโ€™ve sent a private message to the gang- it was very muddy and very steep for a flat runner like me. A beautiful walk though ๐Ÿ˜

Flossie will love it

If you run (or walk) it in the right order, the up hill bits are on the solid surface of the main Staunton Way, and the down hill bits are on slopes that are likely to be a mess in the wet, particularly the slope used on the first lap. It was doable in trail shoes when I walked it earlier in the month. We can do a recce a few days before.

Dexy5 profile image

Yes the bit which was muddiest was what would be the run downhill to the finish . I dread to think what the runners looked like at the end of their run yesterday ๐Ÿ˜‚

I Like the upgrade to the cafe , very welcoming. It was certainly busy today with lots of families out.

Well by the time we get in, most of the other park runners will have gone home, but hopefully weโ€™ll get there before the lunch time customers. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Failing that Iโ€™m sure they sell tea as well! (Or even an evening meal!) ๐Ÿคฃ

Well done for getting out cheeky, and what a beautiful day. My new computer went ape yesterday; must be something in the air. All fixed now.

I awarded myself an additional day off today, following a busy Friday, including a 14k run and country dancing in the evening. Last night was a puddings evening after a beach Molly walk๐Ÿ˜‹. So, exercises apart, I decided a chill day was indicated today. Maybe a diet one too......Good to give my old legs the odd day off! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well I must say Iโ€™m impressed BC - 14k and country dancing! What a fun day you must have had! You deserved those puddings and also your day off! Iโ€™m due a long run this week, probably on Wednesday and Iโ€™m going for 14k or 15k. Iโ€™m hoping it stays dry with not too much wind. Like today really! โ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

It was a bonus thatโ€™s for sure JaoJao, although I must admit I had a pang of guilt when I got home and found the signal was back on already. Oh well, I soon got over it! ๐Ÿ˜…

Iโ€™m loving this particular Adriene 30 day challenge. I think itโ€™s my favourite so far. How did you get on with crow yesterday? ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ

JaoJao profile image
JaoJao in reply to cheekychipmunks

I have ago half heartedly but itโ€™s not for me putting all that weight on my wrists, I tend to sit back when itโ€™s time for crow ๐Ÿ˜‚

What will you do after this 30 day challenge, are there other 30 day plans you are keen on?

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksHalf Marathon in reply to JaoJao

I did Dedicate before Home, so I might do True again or go back to one of her earliest ones. Iโ€™m definitely enjoying the variety the 30 day challenges offer. If I practice on my own, I simply tend to pick my favourites!

Do you think youโ€™ll continue with a different one too? Theyโ€™re all lots of fun. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ

JaoJao profile image
JaoJao in reply to cheekychipmunks

Oh yes for sure I will. I really like her yoga for runners series, I tend to use those on run days as staple now and then she has a couple other really good ones for rest days such as โ€œphysical/mental stamina for runnersโ€ and โ€œyoga for sore legsโ€.

I want to do another 30 day plan Iโ€™ll decide at the end of January which one to pick up. I may not be able to do it every single day though

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksHalf Marathon in reply to JaoJao

No worries if you canโ€™t do yoga every day, thatโ€™s the beauty of Adriene, she advocates fitting it in whenever you can - take as long as you need. ๐Ÿ‘

I like some of her higher intensity sessions too - the core ritual is โ€œfunโ€! Thereโ€™s also a lovely deep stretch one which I love the day after a long run. And I agree about her runnersโ€™ ones. They feel so yummy.

Happy running/yogaโ€™ing! ๐Ÿ˜€
