Since completing the Bournemouth HM in October I have only managed two runs!! A week after the HM I came down with Covid and so isolation (and feeling unwell) meant no running for 10 days. Then I managed a PR and a short run a week later. Since then nothing….no running or any exercise at all (unless a stroll with the dog counts 😂). The reason…..I have taken on a new role at school (Nursery Lead Practitioner). I am loving working with the ‘little’ ones but I have been putting in extra hours due to other staff being off work and needing to get to grips with everything so feeling tired at the weekend.
Yesterday was the last day of term and I was determined to get out for a run today - and I did! 😀🐶🐾. I set my watch to walk/run intervals but only walked a bit (got fed up with the bleeps by the end!). We went along our usual route and it was really lovely to be running again. Felt good and no twinges or niggles and managed a gentle 7km👍. Hoping to run along Weymouth seafront on Monday when we visit family and then again later in the week. Determined to get back to regular twice weekly runs. Photo is Squiggy looking for squirrels 🐿🤣

Congratulations on your new role - sounds fantastic, although I’m sure it is tiring! Glad that you are now recovered from covid and also on your holidays! 🎉Enjoy the extra time to get back to those regular runs. I have been a bit hit and miss with my own runs too recently - I love my job in Primary but this term has been pretty stressful and I have struggled to get my 2/3 runs a week in, I’m afraid.😧 It’s a shame because one thing I do know, is that I always feel better when I get out there!🏃♀️
Thank you Sandra, it really feels ages since I last ran and posted! Yes, the Autumn term can be exhausting especially the build up to Christmas with performances, carols to learn etc! Enjoy your well deserved holiday 😀
Yes Squiggy liked his run and was asleep for the rest of the morning 🤣🐾. Like me he has put on a bit of weight and has a thick coat (groomer couldn’t fit him in before Xmas), so he was slower than usual (lucky squirrels!).
You clearly had a lot on your plate Sue , that first run back must have felt wonderful 🤗
I use to find any new job exhausting because there’s so much concentration needed in the early days and it’s emotionally draining. But then things settle down. It’s great that you enjoy yours so much.
PS can I borrow Squiggy to chase away the squirrels in my garden? 🤬
7k is fabulous after a break from running like that, well done. Hope you love your new role, but I'm sure these next couple of weeks are a welcome break for you 😊
Thank you, it was a steady jog with the odd walk but pleased to manage 7km 😀. Yes, really enjoying working in the nursery, the children had fun dressing up as angels, shepherds etc for our little Nativity 😊
Thank you OF, loving the new role but feeling tired and definitely need a break! Luckily I had a mild case of Covid (presumably due to double vacc😊). Take care and Happy Christmas time to you and your family.
