Well, my tree's down, the twinkly lights are away, the fridge is largely cheeseless--so my focus is now back on routine, improvement and progress again! My 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene has begun with six days of inertia, but will start in earnest this evening (from the beginning, I promise linda9389 !). Alas, I am not sure I'll look as elegant and bendy as the cat in the picture. How are you all finding the return to routine and reality?
Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week. Please join in the discussion! If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
Don't forget, if you have an event coming up this month (or any changes to one you've mentioned before) let us know in the sticky post! ๐๐๐
Ha, I'm doing the 30 days with Adriene too, linda9389 clearly has a lot to answer for ๐๐๐ Some of my muscles are objecting to the new daily routine, but I think we'll get there eventually!
Cough cough ... Hang on roseabi and Sqkr I should just point out it was cheekychipmunks who brought this series to everyone's attention ๐ although you're right Squeak, I won't let any cheating go by unshamed ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Another 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene person here! Loving it. Sheโs my favourite. ๐งโโ๏ธ
Today I went out of my comfort zone and was forced to use the treadmill at the gym - as weโve run out of flipping heating oil. Old cottage + no oil = no hot water and itโs freezing! ๐ฅถ So the gym beckoned for the first time in nearly a year! I set the treadmill at a sedate 7kph with a tiny incline of 1.0 and ran a rather pleasant (๐ณ) 5k. I canโt believe I enjoyed it! ๐โโ๏ธ
And there was me about to ditch the membership. I think Iโll keep it a bit longer! ๐ ๐
I love the bendy cat!!! I am a big Yoga fan and will be bending my way through Jan! My running is really helping me cope with a tough patch at the moment. I reach my third year of running every day on Wednesday so I will be donning the gold to celebrate
Itโs taken me all day to take the decorations down and tonight is the first alcohol free night again to get me back to my usual routine so I canโt even look forward to a drink โน๏ธ
Life is still a bit of a juggling act atm and weโve had another few social things that I couldnโt change. We have another visitor arriving tomorrow for a few days so I canโt just bu**er off can I? But I will sneak a run in early tomorrow before they come. Iโve still managed to keep the running routine, Pilates returns this week, Iโve made a start cutting back in the garden but I havenโt made it to the gym yet although the garden thing and the decorations thing were a kind of workout ๐
I love the pussycat and try to do that stretch after a gardening session but I donโt look so elegant ๐
This week is a little different. No running but enjoying a week of skiing. Weather and snow fab so far. Calf muscles complaining but everything else working well. Need to get back to Pilates when I get back.
I am back to running after a one week lay off with a calf issue. Physio has worked her magic again ๐. I have managed two 5ks with no problem at all so I will return to the longer runs later in the week. I am thinking of adding in some flexibility stuff at the gym, but I suspect that I would end up being the token bloke! Sure I would survive......
Iโve taken the trimmings down and tidied them all away in the loft today. Itโs exhausting int it ๐. Free workout though ๐ I had a mad cleaning frenzy to get order restored after Christmas visitors. Did all the hoovering, ironing blah blah. Even had a bonfire in the garden and sorted out the composting stuff, recycling, and Freecycled a pushchair. Going to have a wardrobe clear out tomorrow as a charity bag came through the door today Seems as good a time as any
Iโve run a lot this week. Back out there tomorrow. I did a 15k on Sunday. My new plan was full on but I did it all. Looks easier this week but another 15k down for this Sunday. So plenty to keep me busy Back to walking the borrowed dog this week as well ๐
I'm doing red January some short runs thrown in *trying to do at least a mile. So far in miles its been an 8/1/4/3 & a 6 (a mud fest!!) and a 1 mile tonight after my first club bootcamp! Have a feeling I've discovered new muscles!๐ have volunteered to backmark our Tuesday club intermediates tomorrow so a gentle 3 mile trot! It will keep me busy! !๐xxx
I'm trying to get back to normal, after being wiped out with the flu all Christmas. parkrun on Saturday was my first run in a long time, and I had serious trouble breathing at the beginning. I tried to go for a run this morning, but it was too slippery with my regular shoes and my lungs still weren't thrilled, so I walked a fair chunk of the 5 km. I'll probably try again tomorrow.
We put Christmas away on the 27th. I can't stand all the clutter, so get it back in the loft as soon as possible. Don't get me wrong, decorations sure are pretty, but only when they're in someone else's house ๐คฃ
A massive gorge on cheese, meats, chocolates and sweets last week means the diet kicked in yesterday and focus on running and training for my half in May.
Yoga isn't really my thing, but I do need some tips on pre & post run stretches. I'm sure I just look rediculous and none of my stretches are having any effect
Folks think yoga int their thing but itโs fantastic Donโt be put off by Lycra and thoughts of hippydom. Itโs about bend and flex in a controlled way. It reaches parts other exercises canโt reach. Animals do yoga as per the cat above ๐. Yoga poses mimic animal moves I use Tamal Dodge dvd Best fiver I ever spent
Managed to get one run in last week as a cold that had been threatening since the weekend finally caught up with me. The good news is it was ny eve and meant I completed my 1000km in 2019 (1001km in fact) pledge. Missed last two runs though, although being a reset week I think it came at a goo time.
Started a new job this week, and, hopefully, back on plan tomorrow.
I'm in denial that I have a sore inner ankle. Slightly swollen. Fine running in straight lines but hurts going round corners. I'm self medicating with ibuprofen gel and ignoring the advice I give others to see a physio. No idea what has brought this on.
Lovely to get back to something more normal. I've been able to keep up with my plan OK, but it's all the eating, especially sweet stuff. Going to take a few weeks before I stop craving the sugar again I think ๐. Despite earlier fears (and not wishing to tempt fate) my foot seems to be holding up. I'm keeping the overall mileage as low as I can but still need to build up the long runs. Made it to 10 miles yesterday - yay - but am suffering all over again with blisters. Think my feet got soft during the 4 month layoff. Have tried different shoes to no avail, and even the old shoes with twinskin socks, fixomull and leukotape (which is what I was using before the fracture) weren't enough to stop a MASSIVE blister forming during yesterday's 10 miles. It's so distracting when I'm trying to run grrrrr! Still. 10 miles. Getting there.
Oh and the yoga, I found that came in very useful when I was getting tired and sloppy yesterday healthunlocked.com/strength... ๐
My blistery shoes are at end Of their life so Iโm in the market for some more road shoes. I ran in my Nikes yesterday but theyโre too narrow for my liking. I did the marathon in them but only cos I had to ๐คจ
Dunno if Altras will be on my list. I need to get to a decent running shop. I've never tried Mizuno road shoes Got a pair of their trail shoes though
Just when you need to go shopping for the day you get lumbered with dogs ๐
Yes, sort of. A 15k. My feet felt sore (hot spots on both feet) but they didnโt blister. I had the idea though that much longer and they would have done ๐คจ.
I did 15k yesdy in my nikes, with Hilly mono skins on - having applied plenty of Vaseline - and I fared much better
