This is my first post here, so I wanted to say a proper hello, ‘Hello 😁’ I’ve met quite a few of you over on the bridge and have been following all of your adventures and amazing feats over here for a while but as I come to the end of my first year of running, 2 x 10k in the bag, I think I’m ready to join in the mad world of the long distance runner.
I’ve had a lovely time over on the bridge and have learnt a great deal about patience, pace, and all manner of things that can effect performance. I’ve been having a grand time lately, running alongside my VRB’s, entering vitality London 10k, LEJOGing, Jeffing, learning to slow it all down, shopping 🛍!!! but most importantly finding out what I want from running and what I’m prepared to give to the hungry soul of running ( quite a lot as it turns out!).
In the year 2000 I set myself a goal to run a HM and promptly had a skiing accident. Bang went my right wrist and hip and my goal floated off in a general haze of concussion. But here I am, only 20 years later, 🤣, picking up where I left off ( well not quite, not in my early forties anymore am I? 🤔).
Now I need to learn how to go the distance, both in terms of keeping on running long term and to run further without doing myself a mischief.
I started the HM plan on Garmin with Jeff Galloway twice and abandoned it twice before the end of week 2, so I’m really pleased to see a new HM group starting soon.
I’m excited and delighted to be here 🤸♀️....but my knees....they are terrified 😱
🤗
Picture: Running my second 10k on Saturday, mostly on the beach, and oh so stiff ankles for the next 4 days! Oops 😬

Wotcha....it's me 😄😄😄Welcome to another fabulous and super friendly and supportive forum. It's filled with people who know so much more than I do and do you know what?... they are all epic. I know the progress you have made and it's so lovely to see you here.
Enjoy your progress and successes and keep on keeping on. The path ahead for you is going to be tremendous 😊

Thanks GTFC, so looking forward to the next year and where it might take us all, with much hope on the horizon for running alongside others for real in Parkrun and some real races 🤗
Thanks misswobble, I’ve incorporated the cadence and glider exercises into some of my runs but was put off the plan as not enough variety in the week and also not knowing what the overall plan is .....I’ll explore some alternatives for a while. 🤗
You incorporate walk breaks into your runs as you need to 😃As you get fitter you need them less often. I Used Galloway timings for my first marathon and followed the plan to the letter For my second one I Jeffed but less diligently in the second half.
Thanks, that’s the bit I’m struggling with, ...I’m the kind of person who likes to see what’s on the plate, what’s in it and where it comes from before I start to eat! I’m wondering if it’s foolish to cook up my own plan 🤔🤗
Don’t worry about stuff. You’ve a target to reach half marathon. Just nibble away at the distance each week til you get there, and have fun along the way 😃👍
Hi Juliet, you’re going great with the plan, I’ve given up with it already, maybe too soon but am using some of his ideas for mixing it up, I do need to find a structured plan though, one I can stick to 😁🤗
Hello!!! and a very warm welcome to this forum. All friendly folk here, just like Bridge. Sand running a 10k? wow, no wonder your ankles grumbled!!! As for a half marathon, it's a very achievable and hugely rewarding distance - take it steady and enjoy!!! 😊
Hello and Welcome jorgeRuns, I’ve not been on here long myself and still post between the two groups. You’ll definitely have all the support and encouragement needed to get you to your half marathon- it’s a great feeling when you get there. Good luck with all your running 👍👏😄
Welcome! It's nice to see everyone progressing through the forums. I'm doing the Garmin HM plan with Amy - didn't quite get on with it first time but restarted with different settings and it seems to be going well for me so far. Sounds like I'll be seeing you in the 2021 spring HM group
Hope it works for you Beatles, I might try that plan as well, should take me up to next May & the vitality 10k which by then shouldn’t feel quite so far 😆🤗
