Set off to do my 11 miler today before my best friend's 25th birthday later as I'll be too hungover to do it tomorrow (haha!). I've had a week off running this week for my foot, and everything felt so much better for it!
Miles 1-4 were very cautious, lots of walking, but then between miles 4-10 my legs finally found a rhythm and I was in an almost meditative state concentrating on the trees, wind and sounds of people going about their Saturdays. 10-13.1 were HARD - my feet and calves were feeling it, but once I'd hit 11 I thought i might as well just go for it!
I'm so so pleased. I'm even a bit tearful - I never thought I'd run 10k a year ago, let alone a half marathon.
And... I was within the 3hr cut off, with 22 days to go until the real thing!!!!!!!! I'm sure I'll be able to cut time off during the race as well.
YAY!!!!

Oh my goodness, you’re awesome Becky! What a wonderful run. 👏🎉🎉👊🏃♀️ I’m so pleased the stars aligned for you today! You’ve totally inspired me to do mine the Wednesday after next. I’d like to think I could get to sub 3 hours eventually, but unless the weather is cool and conditions are perfect, it won’t be on my first try although I’ll be giving it my best shot. 👊
I bet you’re chuffed beyond belief. What a fantastic distance! ❤️
Isn’t life funny; only 3 weeks ago I put that really sad post up where I was convinced I couldn’t do it and I ended up getting there 22 days ahead of my plan! Still hasn’t quite sunk in yet.
You’ll smash it on Wednesday I’m sure - please do let us all know how it goes 🥰🥰🥰
Isn’t it mad how much difference a year makes - I was struggling to run for 30 seconds last year and now I’m probably on the way to being the fittest I’ve been since my ice skating days!
Thank you 💕 hoping to cut some time off of this for the real thing!
Great work Becky! Congratulations on your first HM 🏃♀️ It always pays to be cautious in the early stages, so you did the right thing👍 The last bit is always hard, but the feeling of achievement afterwards is priceless. Go Becky!🏅🏆
Thanks! Still hasn’t properly sunk in yet, a HM has always been my ultimate running goal since I started C25K!!
Yeah the walk/running is something my doctor and physio advised as I’m still recovering from a foot problem (although it’s been completely pain free for 2 weeks now!!!) 😃😃
Thank you Stephen! I didn’t have a chance to rest last night as I went dancing for my friends birthday, but today has very much been a couch, bath and running documentaries day!
Thanks!! Yes I get v nervous with new distances so wanted secretly to make sure I had the distance done before the race, but with life and injuries didn’t think it would be possible 🥰🥰!
Thank you!! I celebrated very well with a night of dancing with my friends - which we haven’t all done for years!! Today is a definite couch day though
Oh Becky1606 that's so wonderful, well done! You beat me to it as well 🙂 Really pleased you got there though, what you've achieved in such a short space of time is truly amazing, and you should be truly proud.
