Well, I'm super excited because after scratching my head for a while I finally found the roof access for my newish flat down some sort of secret corridor in the hallway, there's a really narrow, cobwebby brick passage with a tiny roof hatch at the end behind a hidden door. And that means I could finally get the chimney sweep up there! I was concerned he would get stuck as it's definitely built for the proportions of a small, grubby Dickensian orphan childβa nod to the unavoidably dark history of Britainβbut out he shimmied with a casual grace that belied his stature. And now my chimney is spotless and ready for a roaring fire! What a lovely toasty thing to come home to after a run. I've got my ice grips out of the remaining moving boxes too, so I'm ready for you, slippy, chilly weather! How about you, any preparations in mind for the change in season where you are? I feel I talk about weather a lot, but it's a pretty important consideration for outdoor running!
If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
ATTENTION ALL! Do you have any events this weekend that you'd like to be added to the pompom post? If so, let us know below! π π π
Happy running!

PS this is not my fire, because it's not been lit yet and I thought a cosy picture would do the job much better! It's a representation of what mine might look like if I had nicer tiles and the previous owner hadn't seen fit to paint my walls a weird pale beige at some point. I can't help thinking those cacti wouldn't last long so close to the heat source too...

What an exciting discovery! Enjoy your toasty toes!
In readiness for the chillier days I've been sitting on the couch doing a spot of online shopping ... new leggings have already arrived, a couple of new tops on the way :D.
A little treat to myself for having managed to run a full 25 minutes today (and pick up a PR on a Strava segment I have seemingly run 9 times ... I thought I was going slowly and carefully today π€£ -maybe a GPS blip). Not that I really need a treat, several hours later with no extra pain in knee or foot is treat enough; no bling or t-shirt to bring home like all the amazing runners this weekend, but by any other measure my run today was just as rewarding π
As long as John Malkovitch is not up in that secret corridor, you should be ok :). Happy the house is slowly getting sorted Squeak.
I am just recovering from Sundayβs race, but still fairly mobile and slowly descending back down to reality again. Have a 25k Trail race coming up in November to keep my mind occupied next. My apologies also if I missed anyoneβs badges this weekend. I checked in earlier today and of course Abi had already got everyone sorted.
A nice quiet week for me. A Trafalgar Night Dinner tonight will be a boozy affair so I need to keep drinking water following my race on Sunday, otherwise I could become very giggly very quickly . My highlight will be joining the lovely JonathanP at his 50th parkrun at Portsmouth Lakeside. Joined by cheekychipmunks who should be changing her permanent home address to her car or the M4 ππ
Haha morning Dexy5 ! Yes youβre right - it will seem odd when this flurry of VRB activity dies down. Iβm loving it of course. Iβve told Flossie π she has another chance to sample a different PR course and sheβs not complaining either. π
Iβm going out for a verrrry gentle trail run with my daughter this morning. My quads are the only thing I can feel after the GSR, so a tiny trot around the woods will be just that. Iβll save tackling the killer hills for next time. And of course Iβve agreed to do roseabi βs speed challenge too. π³
Itβs going to be a lovely day, so happy running everyone. π βοΈ
Morning both - after my usual intervals session yesterday I'm planning 10k for tomorrow. I might go for a PB if things seem right but will be careful not to jeopardise my 50th parkrun!π
Have fun going for your 10k PB Jonathan, Iβm sure youβll smash it out the park - but donβt go doing yourself a mischief - your 50th PR needs you! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Ooo I love a woodburner! Had one in my old house - we never had the central heating on so it was toasty in the living room but god help you when you went upstairs to bed βοΈβοΈ
Beachy Head Marathon for me on Saturday π³ Looks like it's going to be dry but with all the rain we've had some of the course might be a little interesting! x
Reclining on the sofa today as I can barely walk as my calves are killing me π¬. I took them for a spin yesterday and they felt ok after 5k mark. Today however ..... βΉοΈ
Too much leg slamming in flat shoes during Sundayβs HM methinks π€·ββοΈ
Dog walking day tomorrow so they have to be better The dog doesnβt accept excuses ππ.
Iβve got a long run booked for Sunday. 26.5k I think Oh βell π. I was supposed to do it yesterday. As if π€¨
Marathon day approaching. Three weeks training left to get to 32 km mark.
Come on legs! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπͺ. I might have to break out the foam roller
OH is taking me to the flix and dinner tomorrow (so he says) weβre going to see Farmageddon π. Weβre such culture vultures π. Right looking forward to it
Have a great week everyone. Itβs lovely out there at the mo ππ
Evening a day late!!! Only just found this forum. Did c25k on a treadmill 4 years ago and then started parkrun. Was in best shape of my life and had thyroid out. Stuck two fingers up at the injustice and did Brighton marathon in β17 and a couple of halfβs but really struggle post runs as thyroid levels tank.
Oh and our chimneys been swept in preparation, dogs are pleased as punch as cold weather means they get to canicross!!
Sooo Beachy half??? Many of the girls have done the full with their hounds. May have to give it a go.
